My very first visit to Edgars. I traveled from Baltimore, Md to support my God-Daughter who was perfoming on 1/20/18. Once I arrived the atmosphere was very relaxing, light jazz playing, staff very professional, pleasant and welcoming. We were a large party who was seated immediately. Our waiter was very nice. Took our drink orders and they brought bread and seasoned dipping oil out. After a little time went by to decide our meals, the waiter came back to tell us that at least 5 items on the menu they were completely out of. So a few of us had to now rethink our meal. Finally the food arrived and at least a few of us were not completely satisfied with our meals. I had to send my entire meal back. I ordered the Beef Liver and Onions. The presentation of my meal was very lovely, however the first piece of liver was tender, 2nd piece was like trying to cut a tire and the 3rd piece was undercooked. I ordered a side of Edgars Greens (collard greens) I saw the bowls of those who had them and it looked good, when my bowl came I had a bowl of green liquid with a hint of greens floating in it. Needless to say I sent it all back. Asked for fried chicken instead. It took so long to come I dined on bread and Poquito Moscato. The Moscato was so good I drank 3 glasses and nearly a loaf of bread. I didn't want the chicken when it came. I will say that I did taste the chicken and it was delicious. My God-Daughters performance was taking place during this entire time, she sang so beautifully. As guest were dancing on the floor we suddenly heard all of this thumping going on behind the walls. Guest started to see that two employees in the kitchen are fist fighting, suddenly other staff began to run into the kitchen to defuse the matter. However it was too little...too late. Guest who were on the opposite side of resturants kitchen saw other employees coming out of the kitchen area with blood covered rags or clothing and the two persons who were evolved in the incident. My God-Daughter continued to sing and distract the situation and her performance was phenomenal. I think that if I should return to Akron, Ohio Edgars resturant will not be a place I would patron again as I was left with a very negative experience. You should always make sure your establishment has more thrn enough food to accommodate what you offer on your menu. Your staff should always be professional at all times, even if there was a problem there was a better way or time to handle the situation and those persons should have been escorted off the property or terminated. Hopefully you'll fix these issues so they don't happen again...
Read moreThis was my first and last time visiting this establishment. We had a reservation and when we arrived, we weren't even acknowledged. We stood there at least 5 minutes before we were even greeted. Our waiter was great going over the menu and had lots of energy. We went to listen to blues and enjoy dinner based on a recommendation. We ordered drinks and appetizers at 830...we got our drinks shortly after. We noticed the band stopped playing and folks were leaving...it was 10pm, we still didn't have our appetizers and the waiter never came to check on us or take our order for our meal. We stopped another young lady, she checked on our food and informed us that our appetizers were coming up. She then vrought our food out. Our waiter then came up and told us here forgot about us! Really? We let him know we were unhappy this was unacceptable. He told us there was a golfing crowd there also! What does that have to do with us? We asked for the manager. He left in a huff and never brought the manager. He then came back with a desert menu! Why? We couldn't believe it. We don't want any desert! We wanted dinner. What was wrong with him. He snatched our check...not sure when he brought it...and said he would pay for us. Ok whatever. He never apologized or came back. My cousin dropped cc that night and called the establishment to ask had it been found in bathroom and was told no. She left her info just in case. She got a call from the manager the next day. She was super nice and stated they found card. We drive back to establishment to speak with her about the night before and get the card. She said she was surprised when she found out the name of our waiter and then said we'll we had an outside party. Not apologetic at all. We gave up on receiving any type of empathy or customer service. My cousin just asked to get her card and the manager had the nerve to ask for id...lol...like really? Now you want to do your job. Its tough trying to support certain establishments. But the vibe was off from the beginning. Although the appetizers were good lol. I will never return just because of how they...
Read moreDisappointing. Restaurant opened at 5, bar opened at 4 when we arrived. My wife and I sat at the bar to have a cocktail where we endured an employee vacuuming the floor AFTER the bar had opened, completely oblivious to the fact customers were present. Hint: GET YOUR CLEANING DONE BEFORE THE DOORS OPEN! This wasnât the pleasant experience we were hoping for and simply very tacky. A busboy came to our table to remove plates but was holding a large styrofoam cup with a straw that he was drinking from as he asked if he could take our plates. We said âyesâ and he proceeded to put his own styrofoam cup on the bar, where customers were sitting, then came back a few minutes later to get it. Glen Gillespie â get someone to manage the front of the house who can bring some order and discipline to your operation for the benefit of your patrons and add some class to the atmosphere. We get it â you spend a great deal of focus on the food - which we usually enjoy. But we wonât be back for a while after our latest experience, which to us demonstrated youâve lost track of the full customer experience in the front of the house. A bartender working in a tee shirt isnât bringing the caliber of leadership you need in the front of the house to improve the experience for your patrons. Weâre rooting for you but please address these shortcomings. Thereâs a lot of competition for our dining dollars and we simply wonât go to places that provide a mediocre experience. Friends ask about our experiences at Edgarâs and...
