For one we walked through the door, no welcome or seating. The only employee we saw was playing with the TV and talking to what looked like two regulars. The food would have been better served from a local gas station. At $31 for three people to eat we got lukewarm food, unfriendly service, no utensils with sloppy chili dogs and a sauerkraut sausage (not even specified as being served on bread)- important for someone who should be eating gluten free. No napkins, we had to hunt them down at the bar. Worst of my kids got Sprite for the soda fountain and I a Ginger Ale. All three tasted like the water was siphoned through a moldy filter. So distinctly moldy on flavor we wasted our drinks... no bottled water but all the beer you can drink... of course if you're paying for them. The theme was not so "piraty" and more on the verge of just plain filthy. After driving 8 hours to have what little vacation time and money allow this is surely not what you want. Well, not even if you were staying a week or more. Just vile. And before just coldly making a public review I thought it only fair that I politely tell them that the sodas were moldy. I understand the fine art of cleaning a soda fountain and fine mixing the syrup to the carbonated water. It is not easy or necessarily fun. When I explained and said "in all fairness and reapect, as a business owner myself, I would think you would want to know" to which the young guy just replied "Ok"... no apology. I wasn't looking for a refund. Stuff happens in life. But when someone is respectfully telling you, as a customer, that they had an unpleasant experience you at least apologize. It's called human decency. Maybe not everyone's parents raise them with manners but being from the South and choosing to remain in the South, the glory of Alabama.... I expected better in food and especially service. I would give less than a one star if I could but it isn't possible. We drove 45 minutes from Pensacola, FL because we found this place on Google Maps and open at the hour we arrived in the area. Never Ever...
Read morePirates Cove in Orange Beach, Alabama, is one of those hidden gems that you can't help but fall in love with. Tucked away on the waterfront, it has this rustic, laid-back vibe that makes you feel like you’ve stepped into a different world.
The ambiance is a mix of casual and quirky. There’s a sandy beach area where you can pull up a chair and relax with your toes in the sand, and the outdoor seating is perfect for enjoying the view of the water. Inside, the decor is fun and eclectic, with plenty of pirate-themed touches that add to the charm.
The food here is classic beach fare done right. Their burgers and sandwiches are hearty and delicious, and the seafood is fresh and flavorful. Don’t miss out on their bushwackers – they’re famous for a reason! It’s the perfect drink to cool off with on a hot day.
What really sets Pirates Cove apart is the atmosphere. It’s the kind of place where locals and tourists alike come to unwind, enjoy live music, and maybe even join in on a spontaneous dance. The staff are friendly and welcoming, making you feel like part of the family.
Overall, Pirates Cove is a must-visit if you’re in the area. Whether you’re looking for a place to grab a bite, enjoy a drink, or just soak in the coastal vibe, it’s a spot that...
Read moreLet's start with the atmosphere. It's a great place for your typical beach side greasy spoon burger and bar spot. Boaters and beach goers from all walks make this a really fun place to be. The service was fine with the bartenders taking kitchen orders and drink orders together which made it a breeze to get through the short line. They've now started texting (didn't do this on my previous visit) when your order is ready which made it really nice so you could head to the water or back to the boat while waiting. The food. Well, it just wasn't the same. The fresh fries were the hit of the day!! The cheeseburgers, well those just aren't the same as they used to be. Not sure what changed, but I won't be recommending them to anyone again. Just seems like they've changed to feed the masses. It was okay but not something I will ever make the trip for again. Their famous bushwhacker was not the same or even okay, but I don't really know who votes for these things!! Not really sure if they gave us a virgin or not!! Absolutely not what we expected or paid for. All in all, it's a fun place to go by boat for a nice day on the bay but don't expect to have an amazing cheeseburger like it was a...
