Delicious Bakery — Restaurant in Alabaster

They made and delivered an absolutely delicious three-tiered funfetti-style cake for our wedding in July of 2022. Normally, that would be enough for a five-star review and effusive praise. Unfortunately, that is not the case here.

The cake was delivered on time to our reception venue (luckily, it was at the church itself, otherwise this would have ended in true disaster). The person delivering it asked us where we wanted it and placed it fairly off-center on the table, dropped the bag of folded paper cranes it was meant to be decorated with, and started to walk away. We asked when the person decorating it would arrive and were told, "I don't know anything about that." We couldn't get in touch with anyone at the bakery, and with the service itself slated to start soon, there wasn't exactly time to go chasing them down. No decorator ever arrived.

We had to carefully move this heavy three-tiered cake to the actual center of the table (so that children couldn't reach it to stick their fingers in it, ruining the undecorated exterior), then hurriedly scramble to find someone there at the church artsy enough to decorate it with a ton of tiny folded paper cranes on the fly before the service could begin.

It all worked out well enough in the end, but the added stress on the day of our wedding, the lack of information or response from the bakery, and the fact that it was only by luck we had someone there able to do anything with the cake just isn't great.

I'm sure we'd love to stop by and grab some ready-made treats, as the cake itself was delicious, but for anything custom, time-sensitive or important, I'd sadly have to recommend avoiding them.

I was a loyal customer because their cakes were great, they gave you what you asked for and they were reasonable. Recently I have discovered that people I referred to them didn’t get what they wanted and they tried to overcharge them. Then I ordered my cake and went to get it. The guy said he just had to ice the layers and I needed to come back (in 3 hours!). So I came back in 3.25 hours and the lady says “it’s not ready. It’s still hot”. So 3 hours earlier he told me it was baked but hot but really they baked a bunch of items up to put in the display cases during that time and threw my ore ordered cake in the oven at the last minute but not in time to deliver to me timely! I used to frequent this bakery often, the desserts are a real treat. I feel like the last two times I’ve been here the pricing has been sketchy. The total that that’s rung up at the register doesn’t match the pricing posted on the chalkboard in the bakery. If pricing has been updated, why not update the prices that are advertised. That’s annoying and seems sketchy. Have the prices actually increased or are they charging certain customers different prices ?? I’m not taking about a measly $.50 or less, but my total was $3 more than what was advertised. I then pointed out the pricing on the board and the cashier at the time, who I assume only speaks Spanish, made a gesture with his hands to indicate that was incorrect, he then took $1 off my total.
