The food is okay not the best and not the worst ever. Just not that special. One of the things that disturbed me was seeing an employee changing the food out at the buffet. He had no gloves, handled some of the food with his hands then grabbed one of the serving spoons that customers use to transfer some of the food. Puts that back and then used his HANDS again to arrange some of the food. That was after handling the serving spoon that customers use, bare handed and then touching the food again bare handed. I lost my appetite and stopped eating. You know that management and servers know as they are right there when it is being done. This is around the time all these people are coming down with the flu. I had a surgery in December and after a visit to the hospital for my Dad's surgery my entire family came down with the flu except my Dad. This is with hand washing, wearing masks and other precautions. Then you go to this restaurant and you have a kitchen employee who is handling FOOD with his BARE hands AFTER using the serving utensils used by CUSTOMERS. DISGUSTING-GROSS-UNSANITARY

The buffet is less than 13.00 per person, including drink. The staff was so friendly and accommodating! True southern hospitality. The tea is fresh-brewed and delicious. The chicken cacciatore was just the right blend of sweet/sour/spicy/salty. The fried chicken was what you'd expect in any respectable southern restaurant; crispy, juicy, and fabulous. Fresh salad bar, and plenty of desserts. The potatoes were clearly instant, which was the only slight disappointment. Unbelievably great for such a low price, and the staff is so gracious, it's completely worth the experience. When a place is busy at 3:30 on a weekday, and full of longtime regulars, you know it's successful, and for good reason.

I visited Brown's Country Buffet today and it, was, AWESOME. I've eaten here a long time ago, but we had family visiting from California and we had to meet somewhere between Lake City and Gainesville. So Brown's it was. There were 10 of us and they sat us right away, our server was awesome and I forgot her name but she was great and if anyone reads this soon tell her we said so! We had a variety of menu items, from French Toast with bacon or sausage, to different style omelettes, and I had the country fried steak. The entire staff was pleasant, super.on the ball with drink refills, we never needed anything. Everyone raved about the place and yeah what a gem in Alachua!

Extremely disappointed with Brown's. Today my wife and I arrived around 1. The bar was about half full. We both got Fried Chicken, veggies etc. The Chicken was only luke warm and was so tough you couldn't eat it. The peas had no seasoning and had no taste. Chicken and Dumplings were luke warm also, watery and dough was tough. After sitting for about 10 minutes about 15 more people came in but no additional food was brought out to stock the bar. My wife asked our server about additional food being brought out and she said more Chicken etc was coming out. About 5 minutes later bbq pork and dumplings and about 7 pieces of Chicken came out. This batch of Chicken was worse than the first. It was cold and so tough you couldn't bite it. We spoke to our server and she replied a fresh batch was cooking and would be out in 12 minutes. The gravy I put in my rice was pasty, lumpy and was not hot which seemed to affect the entire bar. After about 15 minutes more of waiting more Chicken came out. My wife went to the buffet and got a piece for herself and me. When she got back to the table I used my fork and pulled open my Chicken Breast. No steam came out and when I touched it, the Chicken was cold, not room temperature but cold. My wife got a leg and it was the same as my Breast. We both were dumbfounded. She went back and got another leg just to make sure and it was cold also. It appeared the Chicken was cooked previously and then held at room temperature or in the cooler. Whichever it was the Chicken was not good or edible. My wife and I decided to stop before one of us got sick so we left without eating much of anything after an hour. I'm not sure what's going on but the last few times has left a lot to be desired. The bright point was our server was great and...

Certainly was not impressive for myself. I am me and no one else, so in all honesty, please do not rely on my opinion alone. There was baked chicken that I had 3 thighs myself that was sitting in plenty of juice. One piece was dry but the other two weren't, and it did taste very good. There was a fried Chicken option as well that I noticed many other customers were having for their dinner. I have to restrict my fried foods due to heart issues with cholesterol and facts. I did have a couple pieces of the fried fish that I could not pass any complaints about. Not many of the options that were available, the few that were available, but I can eat due to my health or that I like to taste of at all. The other options included mashed potatoes and gravies on the side, beans and sausage, some other kind of bean, and only a few other things, everything available is so commonplace, fatty and greasy. There was a small setup for desserts including strawberry cheesecake, apple and peach cobblers, I'm sure there was putting although I didn't look. There was also a setup for your salads. Simple and everyday add-ons. The wait staff was friendly enough, and everyone was zipping around and clearing empty plates keeping the place running smooth and clean.

The buffet cost $15 per person + I think it was $2.50 per soft drink, play refills included.

All in all, not impressed. But I cannot actually give this a bad review. To each their own and their likings, please take your time and check out the items available before you decide to pay and sit down. Payment is in advance as you walk in the door.

If you're truly looking for a good buffet, take a look around Gainesville itself. There's much...

We didn't go when the buffet was present. We went there at breakfast time, and they only have the breakfast buffet on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. The waitress was friendly and kind. The choices on the menu are very good because they are many and the prices were great and affordable. The portions were very good, and the food was fresh, hot, and we enjoyed every bite. This was not our first time, but it had been a while since we visited, and we are looking forward to visiting there again soon. They are opened 7 am to 8 pm thru the week. On Sat. 7-2 pm and on Sunday 8 am to 3 pm. They have mouthwatering pork chop plate, Brown's breakfast with different choices within that breakfast, omelets, pancakes, French toast, breakfast sandwiches, and all kinds of side orders as well as a delicious country fried steak plate. Yummy. They have all kinds of mouth-watering sandwiches for lunch as well, as well as different kinds of burgers. Even pulled pork and chicken strip sandwiches. Tuna, club and grilled cheese sandwiches too. For dinner they have fried chicken, chicken strips, chopped steak and country fried steak with pepper gravy, pork chops, liver and onions, and on Friday nights they have a pork rib dinner. They have different salad choices, corn nuggets, onion rings, fried okra, and French fries. They have Pepsi products, Orange Juice, sweet and unsweet tea, coffee, lemonade, apple juice and milk. They have different buffet menus depending on the day of the week. You need to visit if you haven't and try them out because they have a lot to offer at a...
