Extremely disappointed with Brown's. Today my wife and I arrived around 1. The bar was about half full. We both got Fried Chicken, veggies etc. The Chicken was only luke warm and was so tough you couldn't eat it. The peas had no seasoning and had no taste. Chicken and Dumplings were luke warm also, watery and dough was tough. After sitting for about 10 minutes about 15 more people came in but no additional food was brought out to stock the bar. My wife asked our server about additional food being brought out and she said more Chicken etc was coming out. About 5 minutes later bbq pork and dumplings and about 7 pieces of Chicken came out. This batch of Chicken was worse than the first. It was cold and so tough you couldn't bite it. We spoke to our server and she replied a fresh batch was cooking and would be out in 12 minutes. The gravy I put in my rice was pasty, lumpy and was not hot which seemed to affect the entire bar. After about 15 minutes more of waiting more Chicken came out. My wife went to the buffet and got a piece for herself and me. When she got back to the table I used my fork and pulled open my Chicken Breast. No steam came out and when I touched it, the Chicken was cold, not room temperature but cold. My wife got a leg and it was the same as my Breast. We both were dumbfounded. She went back and got another leg just to make sure and it was cold also. It appeared the Chicken was cooked previously and then held at room temperature or in the cooler. Whichever it was the Chicken was not good or edible. My wife and I decided to stop before one of us got sick so we left without eating much of anything after an hour. I'm not sure what's going on but the last few times has left a lot to be desired. The bright point was our server was great and...
Read moreCertainly was not impressive for myself. I am me and no one else, so in all honesty, please do not rely on my opinion alone. There was baked chicken that I had 3 thighs myself that was sitting in plenty of juice. One piece was dry but the other two weren't, and it did taste very good. There was a fried Chicken option as well that I noticed many other customers were having for their dinner. I have to restrict my fried foods due to heart issues with cholesterol and facts. I did have a couple pieces of the fried fish that I could not pass any complaints about. Not many of the options that were available, the few that were available, but I can eat due to my health or that I like to taste of at all. The other options included mashed potatoes and gravies on the side, beans and sausage, some other kind of bean, and only a few other things, everything available is so commonplace, fatty and greasy. There was a small setup for desserts including strawberry cheesecake, apple and peach cobblers, I'm sure there was putting although I didn't look. There was also a setup for your salads. Simple and everyday add-ons. The wait staff was friendly enough, and everyone was zipping around and clearing empty plates keeping the place running smooth and clean.
The buffet cost $15 per person + I think it was $2.50 per soft drink, play refills included.
All in all, not impressed. But I cannot actually give this a bad review. To each their own and their likings, please take your time and check out the items available before you decide to pay and sit down. Payment is in advance as you walk in the door.
If you're truly looking for a good buffet, take a look around Gainesville itself. There's much...

The choices on the menu are very good because they are many and the prices were great and affordable. The portions were very good, and the food was fresh, hot, and we enjoyed every bite.
