Ooof. Where to begin...Went here because it was close to where I was staying and had 4.4 stars. Well, they didn't communicate from the get go, that they were severely understaffed and the kitchen couldn't keep up. We were seated on the patio. Lovely day for it, especially after driving all day from ABQ to White Sands and back to here. We put our drinks and apps order in and were excited to eat. Apps were mozzarella sticks and calamari. For entrees two people ordered the linguine Alfredo with shrimp, I ordered fish and chips. After 35 minutes of putting the order in the server was no where to be found out glasses were sitting empty, and the appetizers hadn't come out. At the 40 minute mark one of the party got up to see what was going on. She was told the kitchen is way behind on everything. The owner then came out and got us drinks refills, and about 5 minutes later the apps arrived. At the One hour 15 minute mark we stood up to leave, just as we got to the edge of the patio the food came out. We were hungry so we decided to sit back down. Bad mistake. One of the orders was wrong so that had to get corrected. The pasta dishes came out cold and bland. The fish in the fish and chips was over cooked terribly and the fries were very undercooked and cold. The owner walked around a couple times and complained about the woes of running a restaurant and how she wished it was a curbside only establishment.....yikes! We ate what we could as we were starving. When we went to pay, we pointed out to the server that there was no communication to the table about the kitchen being slow, and that the food was cold and poorly prepared. She said she couldn't do anything. The owner was behind her listening and wouldn't look at the person talking and went deaf. Very poor customer service. Very below mediocrely average food. And I highly question the ability of the cooks to do much beyond put a pizza in the oven as they couldn't manage cooking things in a fryer tonight. Definitely do not recommend to anyone to eat here. Really...
Read moreNot bad. I have enjoyed the Alfredo a couple times, enjoy the cream of asparagus soup when I can catch it. The pizza was ok. I really want the stromboli, but hate sausage, always bummed at that, cause if I could have just a peppery ham and mozz, I would be there all the time! I always seem to think it's really not as much food as I would expect for the price, or in general, which is why it's a rare stop in. There are a few items I want to try yet, but always get sucked into Alfredo. I still like Olive Gardens Alfredo better, but pizza Patio has a decent Alfredo, loving the green Chile option with it. I have had lots of bad Alfredo, and though I prefer Olive Gardens Alfredo, pizza patios Alfredo is a good option, and a far better choice of eatery than Carinos in town. I like the diversity of pizza patios menu, Italian and down home American dishes. I always want to try the cod, and see if it's anything like what I get from places I worked in other places that had great cod fish fry's on Fridays. My friends calzone looked fantastic. Best feature: always had good service here so far, which is rare in Alamogordo. I can't believe how many service businesses in this town give horrible customer service, horrible service, bad product, and manage to stay in business. Pizza Patio has always been an enjoyable time, food always was the right temp, the place is clean, and food is always ok, never bad. In any other town, I would think it was an OK restaurant, but grading on the Alamogordo curve, it's a smashing success, one of the towns...
Read moreMy traveling companion needed a gluten free option for a late lunch, so she got online to find something. I don't think Alamogordo had many options, but she found this place that offered gluten free pizza crust with no cheese in it. So we went here.
There is in fact a patio here. It was over 95⁰ during our visit and no one was sitting at it. However, when I asked if we could sit there with my dog, I was told only if she was a service animal. The patio is NOT dog friendly. So we went to a nearby park to eat our meal.
I ordered a pizza with veggies. The size I got was bigger than a personal pizza, but didn't seem as big as a regular medium. The crust was thick and both crispy and chewy. The vegetables seemed to be of high quality and the sauce was tasty. It was quite cheesy too. I enjoyed it very much, although at over $13, it cost more than I usually spend on a pizza of that size.
My companion said her pizza was good too, but the crust was clearly overcooked. In some places it was nearly black. I think the cook is not accustomed to baking the gluten free pies and left it in the oven too long.
Overall, I was not too impressed with this place and would not come back if given the choice. I'm giving 4 stars instead of 3 because there was a gluten free/no dairy option for my friend and my pizza...
