Stopped by Steve’s Cantwell BBQ food truck on a whim and wow—so glad I did. I ordered the Hot Hog pulled pork sandwich, and it was hands-down one of the best BBQ sandwiches I’ve had in Alaska. The pork was juicy, flavorful, and had just the right kick of heat. What really took it over the top was the homemade coleslaw—perfectly creamy and crunchy, adding a cool, tangy balance to the smoky richness of the pork.

The sandwich was piled high (no skimping here), and the bun held up beautifully. Service was friendly and super fast, even though it was clear the food was made with care. You can tell Steve knows what he’s doing behind that smoker.

Just left and had to leave a review for this place. I grew up in the south with parents who worked in bbq restaurants. I love bbq but can be a little picky. This is by far the best spot in Alaska and easily one of the most memorable bbq places I’ve ever been too. They’re doing something totally different than your typical smoked meat on a bun. At first I was skeptical of cheese and veggies on bbq but this guy knows what he’s doing. Really can’t over emphasize how unique and delicious these sandwiches are! 10/10 recommend getting a sandwich here, but didn’t try the other options (I’m sure they’re fantastic). You should absolutely stop here on your way to Denali or Fairbanks. Bet my bottom dollar you stop on the way...

No, it’s not the finest establishment and there’s no overlook; however, the BBQ is phenomenal! The ribs were fall-off-the-bone worthy, with a tangy kick at the end. Their meat slices were just as flavorful. As for the potato salad side, good, but not the best I’ve had. It’s not the star of the meal, so meh.

Overall, I recommend stopping here for lunch/dinner as the prices are unbeatable for the amount and quality of foods you’ll get. My platter was $16.50...
