Thirty-Three Mile Roadhouse — Restaurant in Alaska

In for Lunch at 2 PM on a Friday in late June. They only one open table but it looked like most of the others six tables inside were finishing. But no one was waiting on a check or in a hurry to get out. The two waitstaff were pinned to the order entry machine/register for the next ten minutes before noticing we were there. When the server came there was no smile or welcome - dropped menus and walked on. This place is located on a river that has a diverse salmon run in SE Alaska so I asked what species of salmon was used in the special. The server had no idea and was unwilling to ask anyone - made me feel if it was a strange question. It gets better... then she couldn't tell me the the price (she said that she would check but she didn't) or difference between BBQ salmon special on the dry erase board and the BBQ Salmon on the Lunch Menu at $11.99. She charged $14.99 for the special. ...

You must stop there for a meal if you're ever in the area! Fabulous, delicious home cooked meals, great service. We ate there a couple of times last year. A year later, the lady who served us then remembered us! That is such a feel good feeling.

Awesome home fries! The tastiest eggs I've had in a long time. Incredible desserts!

The atmosphere is cozy, warm, and friendly. There's also some neat surprises to peek your interest while dining. Loads of conversation pieces...

And if you love dogs, be mindful of the house dog... If you throw the stick once, you're in it for at least an hour... And he will remember you whenever you...

Old log building near the side of the highway north of Haines, AK, at, you guessed it, the 33 mile marker. Next stop north, the Canadian border. Not quite nice enough to be cozy or quaint, with a handful of tables, and really overall mediocre food. We weren't particularly taken with anything we tried there. The drive there from Haines is pretty, but not spectacular. Knowing what we know now, we wouldn't...
