Tonight will mark the third birthday of friends, family, or partner that we have spent at Wedgewood. Each time we have gone it has been more disappointing than the last. The first time we went was great, the service was quick and attentive, the food was cooked to perfection, and the staff was friendly and spirited. Now... now it's like going to a Perkins that charges you $14 for a salad. Tonight we made a reservation for our family to visit for my mother in laws birthday. No different than any other time we visited, we were seated quickly, but this time because there was no one else here. The waitress was extremely brief and unfriendly, and was the same woman that we had had before with a second negative experience. The cloth covered chairs had stains and wear as if they weren't kept, and the place was empty save for a few folks that were also having a birthday dinner.
I ordered an Ahi Tuna Salad. My fiance ordered ground sirloin. We both ordered our dishes rare yet what came out was well done. For both. Well done Ahi tuna might as well be from a can. Everyone else got a salad or something fried. Yet it still took over 50 minutes for the food to even start coming out. When the menu says it "comes with bread" they don't mean like at any other restaurant where you get a loaf of bread, they mean a tiny biscuit that has been microwaved and that's it. No I'm not kidding.
Our bill for a glass of wine, a salad with overcooked tuna, and a ground beef patty that was also overcooked was over $45 plus included gratuity, only to be served by a surly waitress that doesn't have a friendly bone in her body.
This place is a joke. Hoenstly, if you want to spend more than $30 for two people to eat in Albert Lea go to Crescendo. At least they treat you right and treat the food proper.
I will only be back for invitation dinners. Honestly, we have a gift card for this place, and I would rather throw it in the garbage than eat here again. That's how awful...

Our family made reservations well in advance for this past weekend in celebration of my Grandmother turning 101. So many family members came together (from multiple states away) for this momentous occasion (around 65 adults/young children). Approximately around 45 minutes after arrival, a male staff member came over seemly very displeased to advise that they only had one waitress on staff for the entire bar + restaurant (as the rest of the staff was on vacation due to Weddings). It was decided that we would all immediately sit so orders could be taken.. Some family members even attempting to be helpful and writing the entire tables orders down for the waitress. A couple of family members attempted to assist the waitress and helped to bring waters to the tables. While it was somewhat understandable that food would take some time for a large party like ours, we had several having to ask about their orders after a couple hours, with 8 leaving having never received their food. We started around 430pm and leaving around 9pm. I truly felt for our waitress (Judy R?) as we understand this is not a reflection upon her but a very HUGE issue with management. As we were wrapping up there was yet another dinner party arriving - sad to have to forewarn for disappointment.

Read moreWe went to Wedgewood Cove because of its rave reviews. Our plan was for dinner then a theater performance at Marian Ross in A.L. We allowed plenty of time as recommended by the person who took our reservation, and we were on time. We were seated right away but it was 15 minutes or more before our order was taken. We ordered the prime rib, which was the advertised special. The server returned and told us the roast was over cooked and we couldn’t get the medium rare we wanted, but we could get medium so we said ok. More time went by, then she returned and said they were out of prime rib because a large group took it all. Reluctantly we ordered different entrees, all of which were significantly more expensive. Then we waited and waited and waited …. Our server eventually brought us some nachos. We asked if it would be Much Longer, as we had theater tickets, which we had told her at the beginning. By this time it was nearly an hour since we were seated. She said, “Yes, there are many tables ahead of you.” Apparently our reservations meant nothing.. So we left, and barely had enough time to grab a burger at Hardee’s (which was delicious but we had to eat fast). We got to the theater less than 5 minutes before the program started. Wedgewood Cove may well have great food. Wouldn’t know, didn’t get any. We probably will never go back, everything was so...
