A quaint out of the way place you will remember forever. The setting is Shabby sheek. The service is as good as it gets and the food....the food is just spectacular. Sure Spaghetti and Meatballs, Eggplant Parmesan and all the standards but try the specialty dishes....simply amazing.. very fair ptices, great service and outstanding food...YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED.
I have to edit this review today because after visiting many times today is an example of how poor staff can literally ruin a business in an instant Today I was met by a gentleman who acted as if he owned the place yet was worthless to being of any assistance of any kind. I later found out he was suppose to be a maintenance man. I asked if the ownership had changed but our waitress proceeded to tell us no. While she attempted to be waitress her skills fell far short of any resemblance of one with any skills as such. She brought us a bottle of wine promptly but there is where the service became a disaster. After some time she brought out our entrees. Mine was luke warm as if it had been sitting for sometime. I then informed her that a salad and bread was suppose to come first. After another wait she came back with the salads and bread. She then disappeared and I actually had to walk back in the kitchen to find her for any other service Simply stated if you dont5know how to fo the job... Don't take it. The so called maintenence man stood st the door peering through the obscure glass asif he was looking foir someone...which he was. The owner came in shortly and I informed her of the errors in service. I think it fell on deaf ears. AVOID this restaurant until it gets back on its feet with properly trained staff and loses the executive maintenence man who did nothinut tskr up space and breath in the air in the room. I hope it gets it's...
Read moreWe've passed this restaurant on our way from Atlanta to Panama City. It's just an old block building that was converted along hwy 231 in Alford Fl. Not expecting much and Craving Italian we chanced it. What an unexpected pleasure. 1st, they did a great job making it look old world. Like you would see in an older restaurant in Europe. 2nd, the staff was friendly, attentive, and presented a family type business. So -- like Europe, don't plan to run in and out. Like the menu says, everything is prepared after you order. So the timing reflects that -- don't let this deter you, it's well worth the wait. Ok, the food. We started with a warm garlic bread basket. We had to fight the urge to eat it all at once. I started with a salad and my wife had the soup of the day. Both had us smiling. The cabbage soup was as good as I've ever tasted . My wife had the lasagna, and I had chicken parm. Both were sooo good. Portions were big, as you would expect. The Chick Parm sauce was fresh and light. The chicken was so tender. My mouth is watering thinking about it. The Lasagna was thick and heavy bursting with cheese, meats, and sauce. We both loved it and had to take home the left overs. I actually went there after reading about there sausage and peppers, but got sidetracked by the Parm. So today on the way through, we are going to get that for lunch.
I just can't say enough about how big of a surprise this was. I would recommend calling in you order and eating it there, if you are in a hurry. Personally, it was a pleasant wait for us. I hope today's sausage and peppers holds up as well as there other foods. Some people say the quality of sausage will tell you everything you need to know about an...
Read moreUm... We were excited to try our local little Italian place. We do realize seafood appears to be their specialty, but an Italian place should be able to name spaghetti and meatballs and a chicken Alfredo, or else don't put it on the menu. My meatballs I literally couldn't eat them. I think they were homemade, and that's awesome. But they must've gone bad there was a sour flavor to them that made me gag. I had to put my third bite in a napkin. my marinara was definitely from a jar it was so watery. My husband's chicken already seemed like it was homemade but the chicken had no seasoning it was just a cheese sauce.
Everything was covered in garlic. It's 16 hours later and we're still smelling garlic. The bruschetta special, delicious! The canoli, delicious! The garlic bread, delicious! With lots of garlic. The Caesar salad was covered in garlic and I wanted more salad but couldn't eat it because it was burning my mouth it was so strong.
We ordered a pizza to go, well try that today. Lots of people were ordering pizzas and seafood, maybe that was our mistake!
Oh why did an employee look at us, and walk away when we entered? We stood there looking around do we seat ourselves or what do we do? The employee just sat there, looked at us, and then disappeared to the back and we waited for 5 minutes for someone to tell...
