Happy Hollow Tavern — Restaurant in Altoona

Not a family friendly bar at all. They only have high top tables and no low tables for kids unless you go to the smoking section. And no booster seats or chairs for kids. My kid fell back on and onto the floor at a high top. The bartender was nice and offered to give us some ice for his head. He was alright but could have been bad. We really should have just left at that point because of the accommodations. They were setting up for pool league and they were standing on the tables adjusting the lights. They had a big guy just pulling the tables around. They didn't have a level to level out the tables. The big guy just closed one eye and looked at it and adjusted the table leg. It wasn't level at all. They only had two bartenders. It wasn't busy but because of the size of the bar we had to wait several minutes for the to get service... I was at the bar and the only one with cash in my hand. They need more bartenders or need to acknowledge you... one walked by and looked at me as she walked by but didn't say anything. The food was fast and tasted good. The fries were soggy. There is no table service after 4 on the weekend which doesn't make much sense. They need to hire one more bartender to be successful. I'm only giving it 2 stars because I generally like this bar. They just seem like they have taken a shift in priorities. We have gone to this bar for a very long time and up to now we have loved it. The Happy Hollow Tavern is by far the best place to eat, drink and socialize in the chippewa valley! The tavern is very spacious with cheerful mood setting lighting awesomely clean comfy bar stools with hooks to hang your jackets and bags right in front of you so pleasantly convenient. There are no words in modern day lexicon to describe how awesome the food is at the Happy Hollow! We have gotten food here before and it was really good and we were happy to find somewhere to get food that could accommodate my dairy allergy. HOWEVER this time we specified the allergy, and when we got our food, there was cheese on it. When we went back in, the lady made a comment about "not getting many beyond burger orders so she didn't know it had cheese" and how their "stock was old".
