Alva Country Diner 11-19-24 We stopped into the Alva diner on Wednesday around 12:30pm. This place is old school Florida, its very basic but clean and neat. They do not take credit cards so make sure you have cash. We got a seat immediately as they were not that busy. Our waitress Tara took our drink orders and came back fast for our food order. The menu looks small but is larger than what you think. I believe there is something for everyone in there including Broasted Chicken Dinners or pieces to go. I ordered the Open-faced Turkey with Mashed Potatoes, gravy, and coleslaw. My wife ordered the Scallops, Carrots, Mashed Potatoes and Salad. Our Friend ordered a Hamburger with Fries and Cole Slaw. Tara brough us some rolls and my wife’s salad to hold us over until our main food order came out. Our main food order came out fast and it looked great. My Open-Faced Turkey and Mashed filled my plate. It was very tasty, but I do wish it would have been a little hotter and my bread did not have much gravy on it under the Turkey. My wife’s Scallops were hot and very good as was everything else she had. Our friends Hamburger and fries filled his plate, and everything was hot and very good. This is a small diner with a large menu, large portions plus prices are not that bad. Make sure you visit this place you will not be sorry. I give this place 4 out of 5 stars. ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Follow Me On FB For More...

Alva Country Diner, Palm Beach Blvd., Alva, Fl. A grumbling in my tummy, 2 cents on the food and chit chat. Lets start differently. Chatter. I posted on FB where is the best chix in SWFL. I got many replies. Alva Diner was the most said. Alva Country Diner is just that, Country. It is on the corner of Palm Beach Blvd./ Packinghouse Rd.. It is a big red building thats looks like a barn. There is NO sign stating what this is. Its country because there is no infrastructure for them to utilize credit/debit cards. Cell use can also be sketchy. My entree. sweet tea, pot roast, fried chix, cherry pie al la mode. First the bad. Though the pot roast is reasonable price forget it. It really lack flavor. The carrots were frozen and taters seemed to be from a box. Taters were just too smooth no lumps. Ah cherry pie with ice cream. I recall it was 2.59 taste great. Now the star of this eatery. FRIED CHICKEN. Folks were correct. Great local fried or broasted depending on who you talk to. They serve the chicken everyday of the week. BUT some days its AYCE or just special. Crispy outside moist inside. AND it even taste good when it luke warm or cold for a picnic. This is why you will drive 30-40 minutes . The staff was friendly and attentive. So make it a destination if in the mood for...

I had the country fried steak sandwich. It came to the table hot and open with crisp cold lettuce and decent tomato on the side. It was served with Cole slaw, pickle spear, and a side bread basket with pumpernickel and white rolls. The Cole slaw portion was small but who wants a pile of cole slaw anyway? It's right before Halloween so I don't know what to say about some of the wait staff but my server was fantastic. She checked on me an appropriate number of times, being that I only had a sandwich, and was exactly what you hope for when you visit any restaurant. The only reason I gave 4 stars was that they only accept cash. I asked my server why that was and she said it helps keep prices down because of fees and such. Cool. I'll buy it. Just wish I could have ordered whatever I wanted off the menu but only happened to have $10 in my pocket. The menu has plenty of options, and I don't think any of the dinners were over $15. Oh, the parking lot was packed but they still had a couple empty tables inside. Not really their fault but I had to circle the lot twice before a spot opened up. Thanks for a great dinner and...

I ate here for the first time and was pleased with my food. The reason for my overall lower score is that I went to wash my hands before I ate and there was no soap in the men's restroom. On the way out from the restroom I stopped and told the lady at the cash register that they were out of soap in the restroom. Just out of curiosity, when I left I went back into the restroom to see if the soap had been refilled. It had been half an hour later and it had not been filled. This did not give me the warming fuzzies about how seriously they take sanitation. Also, after I left and looked at the reviews I saw the information about cash only. I just happened to pay in cash but normally I use my debit card for about everything and don't keep much cash. I didn't see anything about it being cash only. I had also mentioned to the waitress that it was my first time there and she did not say anything about cash only. A heads up for a first-time customer would have been nice! That could have been very bad if I had not had the cash. This was a very busy place and I'm sure this review won't hurt that.
