Wow...wow...WOW!! After hearing about and reading all of the hype for this place, I told my son that I wanted to take him to a late lunch after prom shopping to someplace that I thought would be great. It was actually PHENOMENAL!!
I had the special of turkey and dressing with a side of twice baked mashed potato casserole. The turkey had the best smoked flavor and just fell apart from being so tender. My son had the catfish filets, mac and cheese, and corn on the cob with a slice of buttermilk pie. He could not quit raving about his food. He commented about being sad they are closed tomorrow because he would have gone back again, for sure!
Not only is the food some of the very BEST that I've ever had in Amarillo, the staff just could not have been more kind or welcoming. Bea (Delvin's daughter) was at the counter and was so helpful with our ordering. There were at least four different people that came to our table to check on us with warm smiles and conversation.
The restaurant is open, well decorated, and immaculately clean. We will be back again and again. They also cater and I spoke with Bea about that before we left to begin some planning. She was just great in explaining all that they had to offer.
One thing to note, if you pay with a card, you can't leave a tip. We didn't have any cash on us so we will make sure and have cash to make up for this time and to tip when we return this week (at least two or three times-ha!) so that my...
Read moreNot the best bbq in Amarillo, sadly. My wife and I came in yesterday evening and of course growing up I know food would be out. Before we even could look at anything the family member listed everything that was out. We mainly wanted brisket and turkey on our journey. We asked if everything will be in the next day. The member said yes and we came back the following day. We were the first ones in just by circumstance. I ordered the brisket and turkey for my wife. They said the turkey will take 15 minutes and just to wait which is fine. I waited, waited. Got up and went to ask what was going on 45 minutes in. Then a family member said it’ll be another 20 minutes at least. I said if I could double brisket instead of. They tried to convince me with chicken instead and I said no. They offered a dessert but my wife has an allergy to nuts so declined. Went in the parking lot to eat. The cabbage and green side should have just been called cabbage with a green. My fish was done sitting for 20 minutes during this. They offered others dipping sauces, did not to me. They were upset I was upset and was talking smack with me right there. My wife’s brisket was dry. Go to other locally owned businesses nearby. The quality and service is...
Read moreTHE PLACE: Delvin's is absolutely fantastic! The staff (who are actually the family that own and run the place) are super polite, friendly, and very personable. You order at the counter, they let you know which table to sit at, and then they bring you your drinks and food. As for the menu, there are a ton of great choices and the prices are insanely reasonable!
THE FOOD We got the 2 meat plate which came with a roll and the choice of 2 sides. The portions were generous for sure! My other half got their ribs and brisket with sweet potato casserole and greens with cabbage. I got their brisket and sausage with sweet potato casserole and fries. None of it was greasy and all of it was amazing! The brisket and ribs both had great smoked flavor. The sausage was tender and has a great mild flavor. The sweet potato casserole isn't overly sweet and had a nice crunchy topping to it. The fries had more of a baked feel and were cooked perfectly! Lastly, the greens and cabbage were flavored very well and were nice and tender.
We will...
