This is a solid local-type restaurant. The folks next door at the Texas Air & Space Museum recommended it.
The reason you go here isnât because of the food or the service. Itâs because of the location. This is a restaurant on the field at an airport, but not in the terminal. Itâs right by the taxiway and close to the runway. Get a seat by the window and youâll see everything from a little Cessna to a fighter jet or a Southwest 737 landing or taking off right by you. Not way off elsewhere on the field like when youâre at the commercial terminal â no, yourâe right there for the action. Itâs particularly great for young children. My little toddler was so excited - âairpane! AIRPANE! Daddy, AIRPANE!â all during our two visits to it while we were in Amarillo.
The service was good and friendly, the food was solid and good but I canât say itâs fantastic. Itâs clearly a...
Read moreThis place is hit or miss with us. Some days it's great and then we have days like today. Only two waitresses and the one we had couldn't handle the pressure of busy. We ate with another family and so we asked her to split the checks up front so she took my family's order and put it in and then 10 minutes later the other family's order and well they came out 10 minutes a part. We didn't get our drinks until the 3rd time I asked and it was well after our meal came out then no silverware and when we asked for that she ran and grabbed it and just threw it on the table. We had to pass it around. The food on this day was just mediocre and we've had excellent food out there so I don't want to be too harsh. The sausage patties tasted like microvaved precooked nastyness. We will try it again but today just...

They have removed the historical airfield feel from the place, replaced the ambience with the feel of an Ikea and set the prices to obscene, it feels like restaurant inside the passenger terminal. It was an old school diner, now it is something else. The eggs tasted like they were cooked in burnt grease. I opined to cost and quantity of breakfast meat to be told a single sausage patty would run $3.99, no thanks. They menu shows a tall stack of pancakes around 8â dia I received three silver dollars for $11.99. I could go on but it is pointless. RIP (Old English...
