Hook's Bbq — Restaurant in Andalusia

So my family wanted to get out for veterans day and find a place for some genuine bar b que; well, Larrys wasnt so good. But, I found Hooks via web search and outside of the pics of food in styrofoam containers, they read decent enough to try.

We enter the building and the first thing I smelled was an enticing, smokey scent wafting through the surprisingly empty-of-customers room except for a pretty blonde-hair girl wearing a tye dye shirt whom just so happened to be our receptionist and waiter. Her demeanor matched perfectly as she was very kind and courteous throughout the endeavor, and even brought 2 extra menus when i had forgotten them for the others!

As for the food well I wanted to see what a 12.99 platter could bring... and boy was I not disappointed! 5 RIBS!! I mean thats incredible along with a tasty homemade slaw and traditional french fry side which by the way was crispy as all getout :D The main event had a wonderful color to both the meat and skin; no it was not fall off the bone, but not too tough either. However as we left the the building I witnessed the culprit, a legit smoker with chopped wood in the corner; I couldn't be any closer to an amazing bar b que joint.

So as for any negatives, that would have to be the sticky table and the bar b que sauce; all 3 of them were good, but not enough to overthrow what Sonnys has got. Horrible experience. Went to order for dinner, they were out of chicken and baked beans. They then messed up our order and after driving 2 minutes home, I found out the meat and fried okra was cold.

I called the restaurant and the first woman who answered was not helping and arguing back to me. I was then put on the phone with the night manager and she lied to me that she saw my toast with dinner get put in the toaster “right in front of her eyes” to then say a minute later that oh they don’t toast their bread they just put it in the container. I am beyond displeased with the meal as well as the service from both employees. I was wondering why this place was not busy anymore and...

I have always loved Hook's but after today not so much. Tried calling for close to an hour and got nothing but busy signal. Decided to drive and place order in person for a take out. Placed order to high school age girl. Ordered to lg pork plates. Told her they needed to check their phones they have busy signal when trying to call. No response from her. Eventually received order and left. Arrived home to find and order of extremely dried RIBS an unable to be eaten. Coleslaw was spoiled and okra half cooked and barbecue beans were cold.
