Salem Gardens — Restaurant in Anderson Township

Decided to stop here late after a concert because they were open until 1am and we wanted a quick bite. The place was actually quite cozy and very inviting. Once we were seated we were told the unfortunate news that the kitchen actually closed at 10pm, but the bartender was exceptional and said they could fire up a fryer for us as long as we agreed to a limited menu. We ordered some fried mushrooms, the peperjack cheese bites, and some fried shrimp. Both the mushrooms and the cheese bites were amazing, fresh, and delicious. The shrimp, while they give you a large portion, they are quite small. I personally would rather have larger pieces at a lesser quality. But they too still tasted really good. im not one to give a bad review cause im not the type of person to do that sort of thing. The food was mediocre at best. The potato skins were 100% freezer burnt, and the chicken tenders were alright. The waitress was more busy doing nothing than interested in getting a tip. ( i always believe in leaving a nice tip) but then I went to pay my bill in cash and she gave me the wrong change. I kindly asked her about it, she snatched my check from me, and rewrote awhole new ticket to what she wanted me to pay to make up for the change I did get. Overall not a great experience. I won't be back. I've never heard anything good or to bad about this place in my years of living here but figured I'd try it out. Food was really good, appetizers were easily enough for 2 or 3 people without having to get a side if main doesn't come with one. Side prices seem a bit much, along with 50 cents for veg on burger, but in the end it's a nice touch cause you save money if you don't want it. If you put veg and side prices on it's still average to cheaper than most places, at least for the burgers. Go somewhere else and don't want the side or veg, you still pay full price. App and burger each was plenty for two, ended up having to take some home. Burgers were really good, cooked close enough to ask. Tots had a good fry on them without being crunchy all the way through.

Only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is service. Wasn't that busy but service was super slow, especially to get initial drinks and check. I would go again. If service is better then...
