Confusion with a lot of room for improvement.
Don't take us the wrong way. We love to see you succeed. We understand you just recently opened so it is a lot of room for improvement. We were liking the noise inside your restaurant. It is a different vibe than another place.
The following was NOT a complaint, just our observations.
#Nice Your host was super nice. She managed all the guests very well. Our waitress, Olivia, was super nice as well. She didn't have everything down but she tried super hard.
#Need to improve Southern food but you have run out of lemonade before 6:00 pm. (You are open at 5:00 pm.) Our 3 glasses of Orange Juice did arrive after our entrees have been served. Tuna plate for $26 and this was how you plate your food, Chef Brian? (See pictures) If we want diner food, we would not come here. Southern food but you have given too many choices of sauces; starting with two BBQ sauces; North Carolina with a Vinegar based sauce and Kansas with a tomatoes base sauce. Plus a variety of hot sauces. Great food needs no sauce. Food should be served in order; starting with appetizers with serving plates as an option, soup, salad with serving plates depend on the size, entree and desserts. Not soup with a salad with an appetizer (not serving plates) while we have the first bite of the appetizer and salad, you drop in our entrees on top of them???? By the time we finished our apps, soup, and salad, our entrees are cold (Did I just ordered a cold BBQ and a cold burger?) BBQ - Ribs were tough due to either temperature were too high or left it too long, in your smoker. The bark of your ribs was almost spot on with seasonings. The brisket was a little too tough and dry; but the nice smoke ring on them. Chicken needs a little more time in the smoker. Tiramisu. It is my first-time with yellow cake layers instead of lady's fingers and finished with raspberries coulis sauce? For Tiramisu?
Thank you so much AJ and Chef Brian. We...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe dined at The Refinery last night and we will not be back. My mother-in-law owns her own restaurant and my husband is the executive chef. She ordered the salmon and as soon as it was placed on the table it smelled overly fishy (which salmon should not). She ended up taking a few bites and noticed immediately that something was wrong with the salmon. My husband also confirmed that it seemed spoiled and told her not to eat it. We informed the server and explained that we are in the restaurant business and wanted them to know so that people donāt get sick. She came back a little bit later and said thank you for telling us āthe executive chef, kitchen manager, and the owners agreed and said that the salmon has spoiledā. She told us she would take it off the bill. Being in the business we normally do not complain but we were turned off that the manager or owner didnāt come out and apologize after knowingly serving my mother-in-law spoiled fish that could have made her very sick had she not been familiar with salmon. On top of that we were still charged the $30 for the plate and when I confronted the server about it she said āoh the manager took off $10 to cover the salmon because you ate the vegetablesā. First of all the vegetables were not fresh and prepared poorly and Iām sorry but $20 for vegetables. We all know that the salmon costs more than the small serving of vegetables that we received. Her meal should have been comped completely as they served her spoiled fish. On top of everything the server was not attentive. It was just unfortunately a very unpleasant experience and we will not be back. Be sure to double check your meat when eating there. If they are serving spoiled fish, what else are they not attentive to in the kitchen when it comes to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI just had the worst experience. The way I was spoken to by their staff was awful. Went to sit at the bar and it was full. We sat at a table in the bar area. Waited 10 minutes then my boyfriend went and ordered from Ashley at the bar. He was told the waitress will take our orders after this . We were never told we couldn'tsit there.10 minutes later we asked someone if our table could get cleared since we sat at a dirty table. We were talking to other customers for some time when we approached by your staff saying " the tables were for people who were waiting for a table and theres a sign saying this". There wasnt a sign plus I've never been to a restaurant that tables in the bar area were not considered the bar area. This whole time not one of your employees approached us with a smile. There also happen to be a couple 2 tables over from us that was having the same rudeness due to the seating situation. If I had to wait for a table and the hostess sat me there I would hate it. The noise and the amount of people surrounding the tables makes no privacy. I wouldn't be able to enjoy my meal. We were approached by a young girl with braids who was extremely rude" You need to move." She left the impression that she is a bouncer from some rough bar room. Never hello I just need to ask you to move theres a lot of confusion about these tables. Instead it was "Find a seat at the bar" . If there was a seat at the bar I would of been there. I've been in the customer service business for 34 years. If I ever talked to someone the way your workers did I wouldn't have a job. Let's put it this way. I wont...
