I don’t understand how this has such a high rating.
First of all, pretty weak hibachi food experience, especially for the price. No catching zucchini, no sake water guns (or anything like it) for the table, no egg shells in the hat - just a pretty light performance. In fact, I don’t think I’d even call it a performance, I’ve seen more exciting cooking on Disney channel.
The food was average at best, but for $50ish a pop, it didn’t meet the mark. And no yum yum sauce!! How can you even get licensed to do hibachi without yum yum sauce!?
It was also just not even close to clean. The bathroom was literally flooded with what I hope was water and the amount of dust and grime on the blinds was noticeable. They clearly don’t sweep up the carpet at the end of the night (as evidence of the amount of food on the floor). I’m really not that picky - but this was bordering health concerns dirty.
It was pretty lackluster service wise too - we didn’t get offered or served water, it took an hour for them to bring out drinks and take our orders, and we didn’t get our check until 45 minutes after they had cleared the table. None of the draft beers were available which was also disappointing.
I’ve done an embarrassing amount of hibachi in my life and this ranks among the worst. Average food, bad service, unwelcoming no-fun atmosphere, dirty, and expensive. There are better options a...
Read moreThis was our first time at Tokyo, and it was overall a great dining experience! We were first seated at a Hibachi table, but shortly before we orderd our food, requested to be seated in the quiet dining room as more people were being seated at our table. We were in the mood for a quiet conversation. We asked the host (a younger white male) if we could switch over to the dining area and he was actually quite rude with his reply. He gave us no direction in which table to sit at and seemed bothered by us making this request. After that though, everything went nicely. Our waitress was very nice, she asked if we were vegetarians after we placed our order to ensure that our food was cooked separately from meat dishes. We really appreciated this gesture! I ordered the Tofu and Vegetable entree, it was amazing! The tofu was a tad bit salty, but the veggies and fried rice were delicious! My husband got a few sushi rolls and he said it was some of the best he'd ever had. The rolls are a good ample size and filled nicely. We also liked the atmosphere of this restaurant. It was dark, cozy and very spacious. We can't wait for our...
Read moreAbosulutly loved it there! I had my family over for my mom's birthday and we all loved it! Of course it's always fun to get food... but to have it cooked right in front of you is a different story. It is so satisfying and entertaining to watch as the professional chef twirls the cutlery around like some kind of parade marchers (with the batons). My favorite part was when out chef made a volcano out of freaking onions. Onions! Try that at your next science fair! Besides the whole wonderful chef, the food was great. And so much of it, too! Sadly, every time I eat Japanese food I get sick... but, I enjoyed the fun and the food (before the pain in my stomach). Also, it's not their food that got me sick, it is a certain oil (I forget the name) that the chefs at most Japanese restaurants put in their food. So do not be worried when I say I get sick. Even though I'm no professional at grading restaurants, I do believe Tokyo Stakehouse deserves a big,...
