I'm not quite sure what the fuss was all about. I have heard fantastic things about it and have had all of my friends tell me it was amazing. Perhaps I am just missing something. Even when I told others that we had a bed time there we were told that the place is awesome so perhaps it was a fluke.
We get there and the place is hopping. So it's got to be good right? We get a seat almost immediately, pretty good for a Friday night. We wait for the server to come by and take our order and we put in an order of Onion rings and crab dip. So far, so good. Order our drinks and wait. The guy brings us the drinks and we wait some more. The Onion rings come out with the crab dip. The rings were luke warm, like they had been sitting on the counter for 10 min. The crab dip seemed like microwaved cream cheese with crab meat stirred in. The best part of the appetizers was the bread that came with the crab dip.
The server was watching the basketball game so he came back to take our dinner order after we had finished our appetizers. My wife ordered a burger, I ordered a buffalo chicken sandwhich. Brother in law ordered fish and chips and his wife ordered crab cakes. Once they came out. I was surprised that my tiny little grilled piece of chicken was $10. I was expecting something a bit more wholesome for that price to be honest. First time I had a grilled buffalo sandwhich too, not what I was expecting at all. My wifes burger was okay. The fish and chips had no flavor all. His wife said that the crab dip had more flavor than the crab cakes.
Overall, we were quite unimpressed for such a highly regarded establishment. We just couldn't see why it was so busy and why it got such raving reviews for a dive. We would have rather gone to Ram's Head or something that we know is a better pub...
Read moreMy husband works in the area and he always heard how great the burgers were so he took me here on a date night (Saturday) for burgers. We live around 40 minutes away but he had a taste for a burgers so wanted to check it out. When we arrived, it was packed. We expected this because it was a Saturday evening (6ish). We were told that there would be about a 15 minute wait. We were perfectly fine with this. My husband grabbed a beer from the bar and we waited for our table.
I felt really bad for standing by the door because a couple was sitting at a high table right at the door and I felt like I was in their private space. There was no other place to stand in the restaurant. Perhaps a bench/seating area outside would be better because the weather was great.
We were seated about 15 minutes as previously said. My husband ordered cheesy tater tots and fried clams as a appetizer. The clams were fried way too hard. Now grant it, this is a pub so I don't expect Ruth Chris level food but I don't think they should sell clams if it's not at least decent. Long John Silver's clams are better. We ordered 2 cheeseburgers, they were just okay for us.
Kristy was our server, she was nice however provided really slow service and lack of follow up. Someone else delivered our food and she never came back to see if we needed anything in which we did (ketchup). The environment seemed to have a lot of locals/regular customers. So it seemed pretty welcoming if you live in the...
Read moreI’m new to Annapolis and after 3-1/2 weeks of unpacking, reorganizing and fighting a bad cold, I was feeling a little better and decided to take myself out on St. Patrick’s Day. I decided on Heroes after checking my options online and I was able to get a bar seat right away. The bartender was friendly enough I guess and very busy given the day. He could have smiled more and been more attentive checking in with me, asking if I needed anything. He forgot my french fries and then brought them to me. They were pretty good and a very large portion. The sandwich was tasty enough, but it was just two slices of corned beef lunchmeat. It was not deli quality shaved corned beef as I would have expected. I also had to ask him to please toast the sandwich and melt the cheese which they did. If he gave me his name, I don’t recall. I brought half of my food home for the next day. I did cherry a minute or two with the gentleman on my left, but I was hoping I would be able to meet more people, but everyone was celebrating with their own friends. That is not on Heroes. Yes I...
