Cancun Cantina and Grill is OPEN! Great new restaurant!
Finally the restaurant we've been waiting for is here and doing a fabulous job. Located at 3337 Henry Rd, Anniston, AL 36207, it occupies the place that was called Rosie's To Go on Hwy 431. Created by the team that runs Baja California in Jacksonville, it takes all that is wonderful about that place and puts its own unique spin on it. The salsa is garden fresh and chunky. The bean soup is addictive with just the right spices. My husband and I had fajita taco salads--mine steak, his chicken--and they were wonderful. The bell peppers were cooked just right, succulent and tasting like vegetables are supposed to taste, along with the lusciously grilled steak and other ingredients in a crispy shell.
This place is a bright, cheery, beachy place--sparkling clean, with high-backed booths, so your private dinner conversation is truly private. The servers are first-rate, and the food was delivered very quickly and piping hot--as we all know to expect from Baja's culture.
We'll be back often, with this whole new menu to explore. Get there before everyone has heard it's there. It won't be long before there will be a wait during peak hours....
Read moreThe interior is beautiful and fun looking but the food was not all that great. Neither was the service honestly. They first off sat us at a table that was tiny when we had 5 people, 2 of them big burly men. Never moved us one guy had to eat at the end of the booth. And they weren't busy either. When we got our food they never checked on us while we were eating. Hardly even to refill our drinks, we sat there waiting needing tortillas for our fajitas and had to wave people down to get their attention as they stood there and looked at us. When we got the tortillas they were literally shredded and unable to use and tried to charge us extra after. One got the carnitas tacos and usually at any Mexican restaurant i have ever been to, they come with cilantro and limes already and this place charged for it. Much better mexican restaurants in oxford. Wouldnt...
Read moreThe food is okay. I'd hardly call the meat a serving that's inside the tacos. Probably 1/4 a cup in each. There's no cheese inside, so it's just tortilla & meat. The sauce was alright, too, but they hardly give enough to add flavor to the taco. The beans & rice are really good, sauces as well. The margarita sizes felt off... I ordered a small & my husband a large, which seems like a medium compared to other local MX restaurants.
If you're looking for a family place, more bang for your buck, then I'd recommend visiting a different spot. The one thing I feel sets it apart from other restaurants in the area is definitely the vibe. I'll give them that. It's like stepping into a high end restaurant, I guess that's why the serving & prices cater towards a different...
