Overall, everything we ordered seemed overcooked, and the restaurant itself felt like a complete rip-off of Caldwell County BBQ — from the décor and building design to the menu. It’s a shame, because the place has potential, but it misses the mark on nearly every note.
We ordered the 4-meat plate (brisket, pulled pork, turkey, and hatch chili & jack cheese sausage), Dutchman’s BBQ Bombs, Texas Twinkies, brisket tacos, and Arizona elote.
The line to order took way too long, and after that, it was about a 20-minute wait before our food came out — which might’ve been fine if the food was worth the wait. Unfortunately, it wasn’t.
Brisket: Dry and flavorless. My mom — who overcooks everything — even said it was overdone. That should tell you something. Pulled Pork: Just okay, but again, overcooked and lacking moisture. Turkey: My daughter enjoyed it, though it arrived room temperature. Sausage: Probably the best of the meats. Flavorful, but tasted more like linguiça than a traditional BBQ sausage link.
The BBQ Bombs were over-fried, tasted like old fry oil, and seemed like they were made with leftover meat. Worst of all, my daughter found a gnat inside one of hers. Huge turnoff. Texas Twinkies were the only item I genuinely liked — they were solid. The Brisket Tacos were a miss. The brisket was dry, and the cheese crust on the outside of the tortilla completely overpowered the rest of the taco. The flavor combo just didn’t work. Arizona Elote was fine, but nothing special. Cornbread was dry and had an odd flavor I couldn’t quite place.
The BBQ sauces were another disappointment — all way too sweet, almost syrupy. The gold sauce was the only one that was halfway decent.
We also ordered two desserts we haven’t tried yet — I might update my review after we do.
To top it off, there were tons of flies everywhere, which made the outdoor seating unbearable.
In short, the restaurant looks great and has all the potential to be something special, but the food quality and execution just aren’t there. Everything felt overcooked, under-seasoned, or poorly thought out. I really wanted to like this place, but it was a letdown from...
Read moreThis new BBQ spot is a standout from the moment you pull up. The view alone is worth the visit — the Superstition Mountains look phenomenal from the patio, especially as the sun starts to set. It’s easily one of the best backdrops you’ll find while enjoying a meal anywhere in the area.
The service was excellent: friendly, attentive, and genuine, which made the whole experience even better. The food hit the mark across the board. The elote was rich and flavorful, the French fries were crisp and perfectly seasoned, and the pork belly lollipops were incredible — tender, smoky, and packed with flavor. The pulled pork sandwich was another highlight, piled high with perfectly cooked meat and your choice of several BBQ sauces ranging from sweet and smoky to tangy and spicy, so you can make it exactly how you like it.
The only small issue right now is the parking lot, which could use more lighting and clearly marked lines. Management mentioned they’re already working on improvements, which is good to hear. Also, there’s plenty of extra parking in the lot behind the building that most people seem to miss — definitely worth knowing.
Overall, this place nails it: great food, great service, and a view that’s tough to beat. Easily one of the best new spots...
Read moreAt the time of this review the location is brand new and if today's visit says anything they have a bright future. I ordered the brisket sandwich with fun potatoes and a soda to wash it down. The brisket is juicy and flavorful complimented well by the condiments included on the sandwich. The fun potatoes were just that, fun to eat! They arrived with cheese, chives, and bacon bits. Pretty sure my palette missed an ingredient there but they are good. A few things to know. You walk in the front door that very much feels like you're waking into someone's home and are greeted by the line to order. The menu is on the wall and is easy to read. After completing your order you are provided a number and your food will be brought to you. The indoor dining area has two sections one I'll call the family area with bench seating and small tables. There is a group table in this area as well. The second section is nicely separated and it's the adult bar seating area. Similar but smaller than the family area. The outdoor seating on the patio is plentiful and welcoming with shade and a stage to host music and other venues. Parking is on a rock covered dirt lot. Suitable for all vehicles as it is well packed. I hope in future to see dedicated...
