If you're visiting the Saguaro Lake area and looking for a place with character, comfort food, and cold drinks, the Tortilla Flat Saloon is a must-stop destination. It’s more than just a restaurant — it’s a full-on Western experience. From the moment you step inside, you’re transported to a Million Dollar (wink wink) classic Old West setting. The rustic wood interiors, cowboy memorabilia, and friendly staff create a warm, welcoming vibe. Whether you ride in on a motorcycle or roll up in a truck, you’ll feel right at home. Now, let’s talk food: the menu is exactly what you’d hope for in a saloon — hearty, flavorful, and made to satisfy. I had the Dutchman’s BBQ Burger with the Homemade house BBQ Sauce with a side of Potato Salad, and it was easily one of the tasty burgers of my trip. The meat was tender and packed with a smoky flavor, and the house-made BBQ sauce had the perfect flavor. They also serve up some mean street tacos, Killer Chili, and surprisingly good vegetarian options. The portions are generous — you won’t leave hungry. To top it off, the saloon has a full bar with craft beers, local Brewed Ol’ Fashioned Keg Root Beer (for the kids), and creative adult cocktails. Live music on weekends adds even more to the experience, with local bands playing everything from country rock to blues. There’s even a dance floor if you're feeling lively after dinner. Highlights: • Fantastic Chili and BBQ • Authentic Western décor • Live music and lively weekend crowd • Friendly service with personality Whether you're just passing through or making it to your evening destination, Tortilla Flat Saloon is the kind of place you'll want to come back to. It captures the spirit of the West — with a full plate and a cold drink in hand.

Read moreHistoric site nestled about 2 miles from the Dolly Steamboat tour at Canyon Lake. We finished our ride and wanted something to eat b4 heading back to the valley so we travelled here. There is a grill, a small ice cream/souvenir place and a larger mercantile store. There is also a small museum on site.
We had our lunch at the grill, cheeseburger was $11.50 and pulled pork for spouse $11. Iced tea was good and refilled on cue by servers. Burger was well cooked, beef patty was tender and flavorful, fixings were L-T-O-P, fries were hot and crispy. Good meal. Wife said pulled pork was plentiful and tasty but a better bun would have made it very nice, fries same, side of cole slaw was delish. Great meal.
Visited very small museum, read a little and learned some history of the place. Got ice cream next. Wife had a double cherry cone which she loved. I had a bowl of Prickly Pear gelato and vanilla bean ice cream which was outstanding. Super creamy and tasty frozen treats which we ate in the shade on one of the benches. Really good.
Stopped at the store next for some trinkets and we collect shot glasses, double if available, to mark our adventures which they had on shelf. Couple of t-shirts later and we were on our way.
This route is a twisty turny road frequented by motorcyclists. We had never visited previously even when we resided in the area. But this visit was a kick-off to future returns. Scenery was awesome, grill was great with eclectic wall hangings for a great atmosphere, ice cream shop D-licious, store had fun items. We had a fun couple of hours here and will make it a regular stop...
Read moreThe Saloon is a must if you're headed to Tortilla Flats! We got there early and I'm glad we did because when we were done eating lunch there were people lining the walkway waiting to get a table in the Saloon. I ordered the burger smothered in spicy red chili. It was absolutely delicious! The chili has a bit of a kick to it, which suits me just fine. The lemonade, both the standard lemonade and the prickly pear cactus lemonade were tasty. The fries were good. I didn't leave a crumb on my plate! The wait staff is friendly and helpful with questions and the atmosphere is perfect - a wooden floor with saddle seats lining one side of the bar, while wooden seats carved to imitate a horse's behind lined the other side. Great place for yet another picture! Then there's the dollar bill wallpaper all around and antique decor all over the shelves. It's fun to look at everything. If you go, be sure to venture into the restroom - I don't want to take the fun of the surprise out of it, so that's all I'll say about that. On your way out, stop and grab an ice cream or Gelato cone or cup to cool your mouth from the oh so yummy and spicy red chili! Well...
