Waffle House — Restaurant in Apache Junction

I'd give less stars for food, service, and atmosphere. I park and the cook is outside with atheist 4 buddies just laughing. I walk in and the waiter was nice quick with the drink. Then as waiting the cook and his friends come I all loud and looks like free drinks. I ordered simply a chicken sandwich and a fresh bowl of grits. Never seeing the cook to wash hands at very least he put on gloves. But he vapid and whatever the cook and his entourage did I didn't think of taking pictures to prove but I would say believe me it did. The cook very abruptly asked about if i really wanted those grits with extra butter or "what"?! I said plain and clearly as his entourage just began to laugh from giggling that I wanted fresh bowl of grits. I received my chicken sandwich but no asking I I would like anything else, but tried. As I tried his entourage started to laugh and be louder. As soon as I saw the grits I asked for white toast. I added a dash of sugar and splash of coffee cream but when tasted the grits were cold. Actually really cold. I asked if the cook if he could heat them up he gave an arrogant how, while a loud laughter came from his friends. I simply said I did simply ask for a fresh bowl. At which point he said that bowl is only an hour and a half that has been sitting by the grill. I asked if that an hour and a half means fresh to him he asked well did you add anything. I told him yes and always it was still hot. After his crew got their fill of free drinks I finally received the toast that I asked before anything was Cooke and only received after I was finished with chicken sandwich. I only ate the chicken sandwich and left everything else untouched. Not one of the two workers asked about my meal or if anything was wrong. So I will tell you if you are not looking for childish, unsanitary, and unprofessional behavior by staff and their group friends that burn out their tires i. I've lived in Apache Junction (AJ), AZ for over 13 years. AJ already gets a bad reputation for being a poorer community than the neighboring communities. It's time for our restraunt chains to start taking pride in their facility cleanliness and appeal.

Case in point, Waffle House on Idaho Rd. We frequent that facility because the food comes out quick and close to our home.

Unfortunately, the place is disgusting and has only gotten worse...We sat down at the table (clearly ready for customers) only to see that under the menus, the table was filthy and was never cleaned off (the same can be said for the area under the condiments-nothing is moved when the table is wiped down).

I ordered tomatoes with my entree, only for them to have some kind of black goo on them (maybe from the storage container or where they were cut), I asked for them to be removed from my bill, yet the waitress didn't try to find out why they were like that, nor did she bring it to managements attention. She just threw them away.

The racks in the coolers where they store the food are completely rusted out and need to be replaced (not sure what kind of bacteria is growing in there). The place is falling apart, needs repairs (wall tiles missing), and is in need of a thorough cleaning EVERYWHERE, including bathrooms.

Though the staff was kind enough, not sure who the manager is or was, but maybe there is a lack of training for both, or maybe they don't care?

For as big of a franchise that Waffle House is, this facility has fallen to the wayside, and I'm truly disappointed. I'll start going to Hackers down the road. Their establishment is at least clean, and the...

I'm a local so I enjoy this location. As a truck driver, I have been to many of these across the country and appreciate the quick service and hot cups of coffee. I brought my family here on January 19th at 7pm. The staff working that night was definitely the worst I have ever experienced.

The server was no where to be found when I needed a refill and syrup for my daughters waffle. The water tasted like tub water, and the syrup bottle was sticky and dirty. We sat alone for 5 minutes, waiting to ask for a to-go box. The cook and server was in the back room. Server finally came out to take an order, then walked to the back room, and with the door open, he read the order to the cook while he sat on a chair looking at his phone. The cook came out, set his phone on the prep counter, and proceeded to pull a container from the fridge. Reached in and grabbed a handful of meat and placed it on the grill...with his BARE HANDS!

My wife mentioned later that she observed the cook constantly wiping his hands on his dirty apron and pants that appeared to have dog hair on them, and touching food without any protection.

I can tolerate poor service and I don't mind asking for refills of coffee, but there is no excuse for improper food handling practices. This is disgusting and unacceptable at any level! Needless to say we paid for our meal immediately and left...without a...
