We lived in Lockhart and went to the Cafe on obt near John young and we went there for years, we moved to Apopka and it was a bit of a drive so we Tried Robinson’s, the egg cafe one , dennys , Perkins, ihop and like 3 more places . My husband is picky about his breakfast potatoes. I we pick up our blind father inlaw and go every Saturday to breakfast. We are a 1 income household and we looked for a place that has good food but for a decent price.. I don’t want to say cheap because nothing is cheap anymore. But we found breakfast barn and it’s Great ! It’s better than the cafe we went to. We really like it. My husband and father now order breakfast and I order lunch sandwich. They food is good and the price is what we were looking for . Can’t go to Perkins … it’s way too much $$$$$. The breakfast barn .. it was me , husband , father n law and 2 teenagers ate for 55.00 , everyone had coffee and a soft drink , each had a full meal and it was 55 bucks that was Great ! So it is a great place to get good home cooking food for a decent price. I know that’s important to a lot of families because at Perkins just 3 of us was 52.00 . I like to tell families because we all enjoy taking the family out once in a while and with kids price is everything!!! Food was good , freshly cooked and if ever an issue they fix it right away . Our server is / mostly always Brandy and she is just a hoot.. lol. She is a fun waitress, chats with you and she is funny .. very personable. It’s family owned and the lady who owns it is always there working and she makes sure your food / service/ experience is good . It’s like a hidden gem , you wouldn’t know about it unless you drive by or someone told you. Always have friendly atmosphere and good food and good service.
A lot of places to eat at in Apopka but if your on a budget or not and you want good home cooking food and don’t want to cook your self lol and good service… I would definitely recommend going to the Breakfast Barn Country Kitchen. Good food , Good service and Good atmosphere. They even have a little kids corner with books and toys .
I get having a family it’s expensive going to eat but this place has good food and it’s affordable.
My niece had big chocolate chip...
Read moreThere has been a bit of buzz on local social media so I was excited to give it a try. Love a good local country breakfast place.
As soon as we walked thru the door we were warmly greeted. Took a seat and immediately a young man took our drink order. And let me just say, this place was immaculately clean!!! One server on the floor and probably 1/2 full dinner room but everyone look well attended to and the rest of the guys I saw bussing were helping her out. Looked like they worked very well together. The food coming out was obviously fresh and hot with steam coming off the plates as they walked by.
Waitress (who I later overheard tell another table she was the manager also) greeted us warmly and answered a few questions we had. Very nice lady and despite how busy she was seemed to be in a great mood, she was very welcoming. She came back a few minutes and took our order. We ordered the country fried steak breakfast and some platter with pancakes and eggs and bacon. It looked like everyone there was a regular. Tables were speaking to each other and very pleasant. A few short minutes later the order was brought to the table. Here's were it lacked just a bit but let me preface this by saying they were busy. The pancake platter was perfectly cooked and hot. The country fried steak was a very over cooked as were the barn fries and eggs and they forgot my toast. I waited until the waitress had a minute and brought it to her attention and she handled it perfectly and went a got me a fresh plate of the potatoes (I didn't say anything about the eggs or country Fred steak because they were not to very bad) and the toast. Unfortunately the new potatoes were a bit raw in the middle. I was in the hospitality industry for a long time and for years at a breakfast place and I get it. They were busy and I just had bad timing between new potatoes going down and not quite done yet. No biggie, the staff was so attentive and friendly it made up for the bad timing.
I will definitely be back again and look forward...
Read moreStopped at the Breakfast Barn Country Kitchen after a morning of exploring the Lake Apopka Wilderness Drive. It’s kinda odd the beaten path. Unless you’re in the Apopka/Zellwood area, you’ve probably never had reason to go here and that’s okay. We love these small, local diners that we always manage to stumble across when outing.
Honestly, the food was just kinda okay. I had the Grandpa’s biscuit breakfast in which the sausage gravy was good but a little thin for my liking. The waitress asked how I wanted my scrambled eggs cooked and if I wanted the bacon crisp or regular. I’m not used to getting asked that question but was glad that she asked.
My wife’s was a different story. She ordered the French toast, which was so hard you couldn’t cut it with a knife. It honestly tasted like it had been made with frozen bread that hadn’t thawed completely. Not one to complain, she ate most of it, but when inquiring about the meal, we were told that it’s deep fried. Huh?!? Yes, it’s deep friend, which explains why a hockey puck would have been easier to chew. My wife’s said that it was honestly the worst French toast she’d ever had. The waitress apologized and said that she’d had several patrons complain about it recently. The best thing I can say is that when it comes to something simple like French toast, don’t try to reinvent the wheel.
Now you’d think that they would have offered to remove the meal from the check, but they did not. The waitress told us that she could not discount the meal, but could give us the coffee and orange juice for free. I thought that to be an odd response as most servers would have had a manager take care of it.
I would not drive out of my way to come here but if you’re in the area, it might be worth giving them a chance. For what it’s worth, don’t get the French toast and hopefully your service is...
