My wife and I were out and about today and had initially set out for the Veterans thrift shop to go and check it out. I spotted BlondZee's across the street and was excited to see there was another steakhouse we did not know about in Havasu. Without planning to go out to lunch we decided to check out their lunch menu. I ordered the open faced meatloaf and my wife ordered a shrimp cocktail. When the food finally came the shrimp cocktail was not served chilled just a bunch of tasteless little shrimp swimming in unchilled tomato sauce with three larger shrimp hanging over the top of the parfait glass. I actually was in shock when I saw what the waitress had brought me. In my 61 years of life I have never sent any meal back from a restaurant . Don't get me wrong I have been disappointed and not pleased before with how things tasted, but never sent something back. Just looking at it it looked like it was something that had been sent back from the day before, as the two pieces of bread were caved in like they had been reused from something else who knows? The edges of the meatloaf looked leather like and the meat loaf was obviously old. When I took a bite it was soooooooooooo dry and so disgusting I stopped right there and sent it back. Actually nothing else on the plate looked even remotely fresh like it had been made even within the last day. It was a big disappointment as we are new to the area so we were excited to find a steak house we could try and hopefully add it to our inventory of go to restaurants .With all that said we would NEVER risk our hard earned money for a Lobster or Steak dinner here not in a million years. I want all business owners to do well but don't go into a business if you do not understand what a good restaurant entails and don't serve old tasteless food that is obviously very old. I wish them well but after seeing the quality of what was served I would never go back here even if they apologized and offered it for free . I hope the owner sees this review if it were even remotely good we would probably have patronized them many times over the course of living here but for us we...
Read moreI so want to like this place. But the food is dated and historic in a 1970s kinda not great way. Its a western/country themed decor. So, my recommendations from an experienced foodie perspective.. reduce the number of items on the menu to help with stock and turn over. Think farm cooking and cowboy meals. Thick steaks fire grilled with a large baked potato (yes charge the proper amount a big fat steak is expected to be expensive). BBQ beans with a rack of ribs that are finished on the grill dry rubbed don't hide them under sauce. Sauce on the side and maybe three types? Fish fry on Sunday? we're on the Colorado River so maybe local species? Bass? Specials like Elk or wild boar. Fire up the smoker and get a brisket going. Broasted fried chicken or pan fried with mashed potatoes milk based gravy and peas. Bake some pies. Apple or peach maybe a cobbler. The meatloaf. Please rework that.. its dry. Veggies. Green beans or brussel sprouts? The mix you have isn't working the cowboy theme. Mom did the green beans with bacon. :) biscuits? Corn bread? Corn on the cob. You donât need a big menu. You need to keep to the theme. A chili and corn bread. You could get sway with a TexMex item or two. I want you to be successful! Reduce the inventory and stock fewer items with a reduced menu. Make the menu fit the theme and you will do great! And charge what you need to. Good food is worth more. Copy some of the big guys. Get known for something special! A big cowboy chop or peach cobbler or pies... if you do one thing really really well that will be worth more than a menu with 50+ items. Some of the best places do well with a very very small menu and add specials to take advantage of seasonal ingredients. Please don't be upset. I really want to see the Havasu...
Read moreWellll....we wanted so desperately to believe that we had found a great place, even though it was all the way down in Havasu. But ultimately we were both so disappointed in the food, and typically we will speak up, but this time, we said nothing.... that waitress was trying so hard to present the menu in such a positive way, and she did all she could to provide prompt and attentive service, and I applaud her for that and in all honesty, neither one of us wanted to hurt her feelings. But now, I regret not saying anything because $66.00 later, he had the ribeye dinner and I had the porkchops, we were starving by the time we drove home because neither one of us hardly touched our food! The ribeye just looked nasty and the porkchops were as tough as my boots. He never really offered an exact description of what he didn't like about that steak, but I could tell from the way he was giving it dirty looks that he wasn't happy. I will say the mashed sweet potatoes were really good. So, we find ourselves still in the same boat, from Kingman, Golden Valley, BHC, Ft. Mohave, Mohave Valley, Needles, LHC, Parker, Yuma and beyond, we are still searching for independent restaurants owned by real people to give our money to in exchange for decent, consistent and relatively good tasting meals. Yeah sure, Saltgrass is consistent but at a minimum of $100.00 for dinner, they dang well better be. But we don't have those kinds of wallets.. We want a place that's good, that greets us cuz they remember us, and consistently place a meal in front of us that was as good as it was the last time we were there. Maybe this place used to be amazing...I don't know. But last night....I should have just freaking...
