I've been hearing a lot about the Old Mill, and after perusing their menu online I decided to give them a try. This is very much a tavern. Upon walking in the door I thought perhaps I'd entered the bar and their restaurant was through a different door. Nope. This was it. Glasses and bottles clinking, loud music playing, and even louder conversations. If there were a fog of cigarette smoke obscuring my view I'd have been convince I'd been transported back to the places I occasionally visited in my 20s. I was instantly snapped back to reality when a waitress told me to sit wherever I liked.

Despite my initial confusion, I very quickly warmed up to the idea that this was a traditional tavern in nearly every sense of the word. Friendly atmosphere, lively conversations, and good hardy food.

I opted to try one of their burgers and WOW was I impressed. I love burgers, but I'm also a bit of a burger snob. I don't mind slumming it with some fast food burgers on occasion, but for me, there is nothing better than a big, thick, juicy, messy, tavern burger. The kind of burger where you need a towel in your lap and a shower afterward. And that's exactly what I got at the Old Mill. Freshly made, thick, ground beef patty (not some frozen puck), cooked as requested, fresh veggies, on a fluffy, soft, flavorful bun. Just like I love them. Easily one of the best burgers I've had since moving to the Ozarks a decade ago. This may have even been THE best.

The wait staff was very friendly and super attentive, despite being pretty busy. The place was very clean, and it was just a super fun atmosphere. I guess I really lucked out because on Monday nights they do music BINGO, and I decided to play along. There were a few points where the whole place erupted into chorus during certain songs and I couldn't help but smile and join in. My visit to the Old Mill was honestly the most fun I've had while dining out in a very long time.

If you've not been to the Old Mill, definitely check it out. They've got a fantastic menu, great food, awesome service, and a really fun vibe. I will definitely be back soon, and...

Friday afternoon lunch at the Ole Mill Tavern was the best choice! I ordered the Voodoo Burger, even tho they were out of the "Voodoo Sauce". Our waitress suggested the Scorpion Sauce, which is a step down from the "VS". My burger was cooked to perfection. I ordered it well, and it was not overcooked or dry. It was soooo good, juicy and had the right amount of heat between the grilled jalapenos & sauce.

My husband ordered a double Ozark burger. He thought it was very tasty. One patty was cooked the way he ordered it. The other had been cooked a little more, but there was no complaints about it. The burger was supposed to come with pulled pork on it, but did not. He said it was still really good regardless.

Our waitress, whose name I didn't get, was very pleasant, funny, helpful and attentive!

The Ole Mill has a tendency to be a little on the loud side the last couple of times we've been there (this was our 3rd visit). Today we sat in the back, away from the bar and it was way better.

A+++ Totally recommend. Will...

Menu has no prices so you never know how much things cost..Not even at the end your bill is not itemized lol just a total I am always amused by this.You can order the same thing every time and your bill will be different.Nevertheless I love this place.If you appreciate an old time bar room that has great food and doesnt allow kids this place is for you.Smokers ,drinkers and eaters are all at the long bar.The owners are from Chicago and so is the menu.The ruben sandwhich is REAL corned beef packed so high that it barely fits in your mouth and the juice drips down your hand .I love it.Its so big they sell 1/2 sandwhiches.The horseradish is fresh and awesome!!The kitchen is clean and the food is made to order and fresh.The french onion soup is the bomb.The bloody marys are awesome ~!! This place can be a bit pricey but it is great! If you dont smoke they have tables in the back.But the bar experience is the best !When chicago football is on this place is packed and loud.Its a great place if your in the...

On Vacation here in Mountain Hone and every time we passed Ole Mill Tavern there were tons of cars in the parking lot . Had plans for dinner but decided to come in for drinks anyways. So glad we did, just a really nice place to chill. Our bartender Des was so friendly and conversational as well as the rest of staff. You can tell the locals all hang out here , the servers seem to know them all. My boyfriend is picky how his rum and cokes taste and he said “ best ever” . We got the Bavarian pretzel as a snack with beer cheese . Super hot and the cheese was delicious. The pizzas looked amazing . Too bad we already had dinner figured out.

We went on a Thursday afternoon. There were a bunch of peple at the bar and a few at tables. We had no wait for services. My husband had a shrimp poboy sandwich with was big and delicious he said. I had the boneless chicken basket which were lightly breaded and good. We had their southern pecan cobbler which our server recommended and it was DELICIOUS! We tried the local lager which we liked and it was happy hours so we had a few. Our server, Taylor was fantastic. Very friendly, attentive and her recommendations were very good. We will go back 🙂
