You can tell the servers hate working here, and the cook isn't helping this place out. I have eaten here 3 times now due to lack of options in the area and never once have the bartenders or servers even been able to pretend to like what they do. The spinach dip comes with movie theater quality chips that have been stale every single time and they always bring it with the main course. Last night I got my salad, appetizer, and main course at the same time and the spinach dip wasn't "microwaved" long enough and still cold in the middle. There were only 4 other tables at the time so being busy can't be an excuse. The only way this place would get all these good reviews would be if the people that gave them haven't ever left this town to experience what a descent restuarant is like, or if the reviews were left by the staff or the owners buddies. I had the prime rib once too and it seemed like it was also microwaved due to its rubbery radial tire consistency. Godfathers at the gas station a few blocks away would be a better option. I'd fire the cook and retrain the servers to understand that they are in the service industry and are supposed to make people feel like they are welcome and not a nuisance for walking in the door.
In response to the reply from the owner, how would you like me to tell the server or bartender they seem like they hate their existence in your establishment and that the cook routinely messes up the food? I bet that they'd just make it all better immediately. One piece of advice for you sir... fire the cook... retrain...
Read moreOk, first off , we got seated before two other tables got seated and they were served before us. We had drinks when we were waiting for our party in the bar, which was nice. When we finally got to order our food, the waitress took our order. Fine, but I do say that the waitress could have looked better with her appearance; she had on baggy jeans and her shirt was not tucked in and it made her look slovenly. Please see if you can change that. The menu sounded really good, but the food was less than appealing. My Philly cheesesteak, I could not pick it up to eat it because the bottom of the bun was soaked with juice from the sandwich so I had to use a fork. The bowl of vegetable medley was good until I got to the bottom of the bowl and the vegetables got mushy. Also the food seemed a little...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I were trying to choose a good steak house around Brookings, and remembered 1481, and I'm So glad we did!
Staff was incredibly friendly, efficent, and knowledgeable. I was wary about informing them of my Celiac Disease and asking about gluten free options, but our waitress put me at ease, showing me all the options and double checking when she didn't have answers to my questions. My food ended up coming out with bread on top, but staff apologized profusesly and prepared me a new steak very quickly- without the gluten! The ribeye was to die for! Best steak I've ever had- so juicy, flavorful, and melted like butter in my mouth! The margaritas and pop cups are HUGE! Money was well spent! Will 100% be back soon, and highly recommend...
