We have probably been to Blake's Tasting Room seven or eight times; obviously we enjoy it.  It has a nice, rustic atmosphere, good food and hard ciders.  We have tried several different meals and have enjoyed each one.  The pulled pork flatbread was probably my least favorite.  It wasn't like the food was not tasty or not cooked properly, it was probably just personal preference (too much sauce and not enough pulled pork for my liking).  The giant pretzel has always been very good, but be warned, it is huge and best for a group of three to five people.  I will say that if you visit Blake's when it is fairly crowded or packed to capacity that it is more difficult to carry on a conversation with the people at your table, simply because the interior has a lot of hard surfaces which do not absorb much of the ambient sounds.  And, if you are there on an evening when they have a live band, it will be even worse.  As to some of the negative reviews regarding long waits, this is my two cents.  The long waits are due to high volumes of patrons, which in my opinion means that the place is popular. and it is probably popular because people enjoy it and keep going back.  Try getting a seat in any restaurant along Hall Rd between Van Dyke and I-94 on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday evening and not have a long wait.  Good luck with that.  Just realize that getting a seat here will be just like most other popular restaurants and will require a wait and then plan accordingly.

Update to my original review. My third visit proved to be disappointing. Food was not good this visit. Everything from the Mac and cheese to the Michigan stir fry was bland. The pretzel we had as an appetizer was still very good, but the entrees left much to be desired. The beer selection was subpar this visit as well. I may be back in the fall but don’t hold your breath. The food was very good. For starters the ENORMOUS Party Pretzel (12 inches in diameter) was outstanding. A pretzel of that magnitude should have been as soft and tasty as it was but it was outstanding! The cheese dip was good, but the Carmel Apple like mustard stole the show. The Big Apple burger was juicy and top well, that along with the slim steak fries proved more than enough for a meal. I tried the Triple Jam, Flannel Mouth, and El Chavo ciders. The Triple Jam and El Chavo both were tasty, if you like hard cider. The flannel was mild in taste and just eh. I had the Darlin (beer) wheat with a hint of tangerine while waiting for a seat and really enjoy that. The only down side of the entire night was the wait. Wait for a seat (to be expected) but the wait for the food was way too long. The only reason they didn’t get 5 stars.

This place is supper busy even on a weekday! No room to sit inside but got lucky to find a picnic table at the far end to enjoy our alcoholic cider and snacks. I didn’t like that we had to wait in separate lines to get our drinks & food as well as a whole different department to get cider & donuts making us all split up. The cider was fantastic but wish we could have gotten a flight which isn’t available outside in the red barn. They were out of half the ciders listed on their menu so it made the wait longer as people had to choose something else once they got to the front of the line. The snacks we got were delicious & I wanted more but didn’t want to wait in two lines again. The store inside sells hard ciders in cans & allow you to make your own six pack which I loved. I would go again but much earlier in the day & season. Also would have ordered two ciders at a time to avoid waiting in line again.

Was very disappointed with food and beers. When we arrived we wanted to stay inside but where told that would be 30 to 40 minute wait but could however be seated immediately if we wanted a table outside. My husband and I agreed to eat outside, not 2 seconds later another girl walks up and says outside was unavailable and that would be a 40 minute wait! Wait what? We then agreed to wait the 30 to 40 minutes for the indoor table. I asked if it would be fine to go to the cider mill while waiting. I was told that would be fine and that they would call me when the table was ready. Well not 5 minutes into the cider mill we receive a call that the table is ready. Ok fine, however it would take us a couple of minutes to get back there. What an attitude I received, I am disabled and cannot walk as fast as I used to. The girl on the other end of the phone said, what it will take you a few minutes? I said yes we just arrived at the cider mill and it will take us a few minutes to get back to the tasting room. You told us it was ok to walk over to the cider mill. She replies, ok whatever. How rude can you be? Our waitress attended to us quite well. The food however was a disappointment. Very small portions and high prices. I have worked in the culinary field for many years and would expect more for the price. Come on people it’s a farm, farms are notorious for substantial, tasty meals. I loved the innovative approach to the food and have to say some of the things where very well executed. The cider ketchup was delicious, you need that in the store. I’ve been going to Blake’s since I was a child and have very fond memories of it. I wanted to create that feeling for the tasting room as well. Please though pay more attention to your staff, lots of people standing around doing nothing. They need to be more attentive to their customers. Food would be quite good if you offered a little more food for the money. You are a year round operation not seasonal and the prices should...

Booked an igloo for my birthday. Was aware that we had to spend $250 and had a 1 HR 45 minute block of time. There were 7 - 5 adults 2 kids.knowing we had to spend 250 we let the server know we wanted to plan it out so we had time between apitizers and our meal.

Ordered all 3 apitizers to get us started. Pleased with all of them except the cheese sauce used for the pretzel. After the apitizers were delivered we asked for some time to allow them to settle. The waitress didn't come back for 25 to 30 minutes. This was a fair amount of time knowing again, the minimum we needed to spend, and that we needed some time between courses.

My issue comes with what happens next. The next time we see the waitress she brings in a stack of to go boxes is says, "Your food is about to come out, but you only have 15 minutes left on your reservation." That ruined the entire experience. We ordered soups, salads, and main entrees that you cannot speed eat. My mom didn't even try to eat she was so stressed about it. She went ahead and transfered her salad immediately to her assigned box.

As I mentioned above... We knew there was a time block. We also knew were were celebrating and having a good time. I would encourage Blakes to provide guests with a reminder during their igloo reservation that if you don't order your main entrees by X time they will be served to you via a Togo box. The issue really ruined the experience after spending $280 with automatic gratuity included.

Another item of note was the condensation at the top of the igloo. I understand there isn't much to be done, but we were all aggressively being dripped on...

Update 1/24/21, went back after 5 months and still not happy with this place. 😒 bad beer selection and the seat yourself area outside had dirty tables, not one clean table and no one hired to clean or serve food or drinks. The bartender gave me a rag and cleaning solution to clean table myself. The blakes tasting room is getting worse, not better. POOR MANAGED and I don't suggest eating here anymore. The cider and donut store is the only thing worth the trip. Don't bother with food and drinks.

Usually love the food/drinks here and the people working as well. Have been here a couple times the past 6 weeks and they're serving the beer and wine in plastic cups. I have been to several other places / breweries that are serving the beer and wine in glass cups. Taste like I'm at a keg party with the plastic cups. Not good at all!

Also not real happy with one of the bar tenders, I did not catch his name but he did not clean the bar off before we sit down and even when I sat down he tried to serve us with menus and did not bother to bother cleaning the countertop at that time either. I had to ask him to do so. Meanwhile, while he starts to serve us, then it appeared he also had a family member maybe a wife or a girlfriend that he spent most of his time with standing across the bar where she was sitting and sampling her drinks while each time we needed something we had to waive him down or wait for somebody else to help us. This episode happened about two weekends ago and we are going to give this place a few more months to hopefully change back to what it use to be from last year. So one...
