Ole Country Bakery — Restaurant in Artesia

Went for lunch on a Thursday, driving through and needed a bite to eat. I ordered the taco salad and my husband ordered the ham and cheese sandwich. Mostly sandwiches and salads here but I wanted something hot so I ordered the taco salad. I didn't like it at all, I ended up throwing all but a few bites away. Paid $8 for the thing and just couldn't eat it, too much salsa, chili was bland, not enough cheese, just awful flavor all around. Sweet tea was artificially sweetened and tasted terrible, once you had your food order from the line you had to wait to pay, I felt this could have been more organized. This is one of those Road Side TREASURES, That you normally zoom right past, on your way to your destination, and it never registers with you as a traveler.... but, Hang On Sloopy. This is one of those places on Highway 45 in The Great State of Mississippi, that you'll kick yourself for missing. This was my first time to discover this Dianond in the Rough. This is a surprising popular place in the middle of nowhere. It's like half the people on the road stop here. I've been here several times myself. Food is consistently good and reasonably priced. Day old items on shelves are a super tasty bargain. Quality baked goods of many different varieties plus soups and sandwiches. No waitress service.
