Now I remember why I never come here... Horrible service, slow, and bland food. The biggest issue is that they lack communication skills. I placed a to-go order for meatloaf, a grilled cheese, and tomato soup. The girl who answered the phone was either deaf or oblivious or both. I had to repeat myself three times and she confirmed a "side of tomatoes" instead of tomato soup. I was calling from a completely quiet room on a cell phone with an excellent 4G connection, so the problem wasn't my end. I was told the food would be ready in 20 minutes.
I show up in 20 minutes only to be met with blank stares and someone running back to the kitchen. They tell me they're getting it ready still and ask me to take a seat. I do. Several minutes later someone comes out and said they don't have meatloaf on the menu anymore... Okay. Well, I just looked up the menu online 20 minutes ago and the person taking my order didn't say anything about that, but whatever.
They ask if there is anything else I want. I tell them that portion is my husband's so I'll have to text him. I do and he asks about the half chicken. They say they have "to check" and see if they still have that on the menu or not. Alright, clearly these people know nothing about what they actually serve (two girls at the front, each more clueless than the other). The girl comes back and says they do have it, so she put the order in and it'll go to the front of the line. I sit and wait patiently.
Five minutes later one of the girls comes back with a pad of paper and asks me what my order was. I stare at her in disbelief because she told me five minutes ago the order was in and at the front of the line. She clarifies that when they realized meat loaf wasn't on the menu anymore they threw my order in the trash so they don't know the rest of it anymore. Apparently they tried to call me back but someone else had called in the meantime and they didn't know which number was mine, so they just trashed the whole thing... What?! I checked my phone log in front of them (despite knowing there was no call) and they admitted they really didn't try to figure out which number was mine so they have no idea who they tried to call. Clearly not me.
I'm boiling and ready to walk at this point, but my husband wants this food so I go through the entire order again with the chicken instead of the meat loaf. As the one girl is writing it down the other at the front is yelling across the room to ask me about sides as she's just now keying an order in. Seriously. It was beyond unprofessional, and I was almost looking around for a hidden camera because their customer service can't be this bad, can it? It can.
I sit and wait and sit and wait. After 30 minutes, they finally have my order ready. One girl says she'll check me out while the other one bags it up. When I go to pay the total is now $5 more than it was on the phone, I guess because of the different entrée (by the way, how did they have a total to give me when I placed the order if the meatloaf isn't on the menu? Hmmm). When I mention it she just says "sorry about that" with a very who cares attitude. I sign, get my food, and can't leave fast enough.
I only live a mile away so I was home quickly. As my husband and I unpacked the bag we looked at the smallest side of macaroni & cheese imaginable... It's one of those little plastic cups they put jello shooters in, and it's very loosely packed with boiled penne and what looks like watered down Velveeta. No seasoning. Approximately 15 noodles. My husband is laughing like crazy looking at this thing while I tell him the entire story. My grilled cheese is tasteless and the tomato soup has a layer of grease and a weird flavor. At least the chicken was decent, which is the only thing remotely positive I can say about this entire experience.
I was excited when this place opened up so close to home, but I was reminded tonight why we haven't ordered from there in at least 9 months... This restaurant is slow with hit or miss (mostly miss) food and horrible...

As someone who has been a loyal patron of Jake’s for many years, I never imagined I’d be writing a review like this. But after weeks of hesitation, I feel it’s important to warn others about what I recently experienced.
After spending multiple weeks sick and shut in, recovering from several hospital visits, I had a strong craving for Jake’s food—something I’ve enjoyed time and again. I called to place a takeout order, which was immediately taken by the cashier. I made sure to mention that I’m diabetic, and I ordered a beef brisket sandwich with southern pimento cheese and applewood sliced bacon, along with a side of green beans. I even expressed that I was happy to pay for any additional charges.
Then, unexpectedly, the cashier put me on hold to get the manager. That’s when everything changed.
The manager came on the line and abruptly informed me that they are no longer taking phone orders—without even a moment of consideration for my situation.
I explained that my son was already on his way, making a 25-minute drive to pick up the food, just as he had done before. Instead of any empathy or flexibility, the manager assertively repeated that they are only serving dining room customers.
Now, I understand that businesses make changes. Policies shift. But where is the consideration for regular patrons—especially those who are sick, disabled, or physically unable to dine in? After being in and out of the hospital over the past month, all I wanted was a comforting meal, and instead, I was met with rudeness, complete disregard, and an unwillingness to help.
It felt as though the manager disregarded the fact that my order had already been taken and did not take this into consideration. In doing so, she completely took away my desire to enjoy their food—something I had been looking forward to all day.
So I have to ask:
What about those of us who are sick, ill, or recovering and simply cannot sit in the restaurant? Are we no longer valued?
What about changing meals due to dietary needs or cravings? Are customers expected to eat the same thing every time?
What if someone physically cannot come to the restaurant? Should they be denied the experience altogether?
I don’t usually leave scathing reviews, but when customer service fails this badly, it deserves to be addressed.
Unfortunately, the manager made it clear where she stands on takeout orders—shutting down the option without regard for customers who rely on it.
Anyone expecting the convenience of a to-go meal should keep this in mind before attempting to...
Read moreThis place is super dirty with uncaring staff and manager, Wendy. I came in and slipped on water on their floor falling on my knee. Not one of her staff stopped to ask if I was ok. She is very lucky my husband was carrying our 14 month old and not me. When I got up my pants were covered in dirt where I fell. The restaurant opened at 1100 and we came just before 1300. There is zero reason the floor should be that dirty especially since the place was empty. A combination of grease on the floor (as evidenced by my pants) and water made it super slippery. My knee and back now hurt and I am in pain. Wendy was not empathetic at all and was very condescending to us being upset. Due to the uncleanliness, I would not recommend this place at all. Edited in response to Wendy’s response:
Accusing me of saying I was going to sue is hearsay, as I never once said that to you when we spoke. When you asked me what you could do, I simply told you to clean your floors. There is ZERO excuse why your floors should be that dirty when you just opened less than 2 hours prior and the place was dead inside. I hope being a restaurant you take this as an opportunity to throughly clean and maintain the level of cleanliness that is expected at a restaurant. And putting rugs near that area where grease and water is spilled would be helpful. Right after I fell a woman came with a wet rag from cleaning tables and set it down so it’s clearly an area that gets wet easily. It’s also funny because the same customer you said is a witness after I said the floors are dirty and I want to leave said to us, “but the food is good.” I’m confused how someone sitting 10-15 feet away could see water on the floor or not so of course they’d say that because they couldn’t see it from that far away. Can you blame me for declining a free meal given how dirty your restaurant is? And jeans don’t need to be dry cleaned so that was unnecessary and why I...
