Barberitos — Restaurant in Athens-Clarke County Unified Government

this is the worst run restaurant i’ve ever tried to eat at. key word being tried. the night shift employees last night (5-19-24) forgot to give me my food and told my friend everything was in the bag. wouldn’t put the nachos in the oven despite me asking. and had no salsa out 45 mins before close and didn’t offer to bring us any till i tried to cancel the order. i had to remind the girl i needed to pay. i paid and we got back home well after they closed and found we were missing the food. $17.50 worth of food with entree and cheese dip. i came back today at 2 pm and they refused to give me a refund because no manager is here and apparently they don’t have permission. idk how any business owner or manager could think having no employee who can offer refunds on the clock should ever be acceptable during business hours. the girl last night was nice but also clearly annoyed by us requesting our food the way we wanted it. i’m coming back tomorrow for my refund then ill never return. update: came back and manager didn’t bother speaking with me. employee wrote down order and my name and number and said it’ll get taken care of. i need cash money put back in my hand as i paid cash and somehow this is too hard for a manager and two employees to figure out. employee apologized and said night shift sucks. i’ll let yall know if i actually get a call or not. SHADY...

Do NOT cater from here. We had our wedding catered from this location. We ordered enough food to feed 150. When we got to our reception, there was only enough to feed 50. When we called to ask what happened to the rest of our order, we were told “there wasn’t a place to set the rest so we took it back with us.” The manager on the phone laughed through the entire conversation.

Not only did we have to call them DURING our wedding reception, but we also had to run to the nearest location (again, during our wedding reception) to order (and pay for) more food to feed our guests.

When we called to get it resolved after our wedding, we were given the run-around. Nothing came from it, we were not reimbursed or even apologized to. They stole our $1500 worth of food we never received.

We are very easy going and would have completely understood if it was a mistake, but to be told that there simply wasn’t a place to put it (even though the reception was held in a restaurant with a whole kitchen they could have set the extras) and then LAUGHED at when we called to ask about it is simply unacceptable.

Barberitos is about a 10 minute walk from UGA. Ordering is done at the counter made-to-order style. Three choices for burrito type, recommend the spinach wrap. They are vegan-friendly. Be wary of the tofu if you can’t handle spicy; it’s a tad on the hot side. So many fixin’s to choose from: black or pinto beans; spinach; romaine; brown rice; guac; pico de galo; corn salsa; etc. Their cheese sauce on the side is a must. It’s mild, creamy, and just the right consistency. Kids meal comes with a cookie and a drink. Indoor seating is kind of tight but plenty of outdoor tables in the front. Off-street parking, too. The only complaint I have is with how management spoke to the staff. Xander took care of us. He was friendly, attentive to our requests and accommodating in spite of the fact that his boss was barking orders at him and finding fault with everything he did. Hopefully, when you go to this burrito joint, the manager will stay in the back where he belongs and line staff can do their job in peace. Staff, two thumbs up; management two...
