Jamal's Buffalo Wings — Restaurant in Atlanta

The food here is "Run to the Bathroom" horrible. I ordered 15 wings since they were out of fries before lunch. My coworker got fries and they were off colored and soggy. He thought it was from old grease coupled with the fact that everything is cooked in the same grease. Let's get to the main point though.....Both of us only ate a few wings. The sauce has potential to be really good but the chicken had an "Off" taste that we couldn't pinpoint. A little while later at work, we both suffered from "Bubble Gut" For the first time in my life, there was genuine FEAR that I would not make it to the bathroom in time. What happened when I got there was straight out of a movie. WORST bathroom experience in my LIFE! I took my food back to the restaurant when I got off work. I had 12 left. It was a different guy and I only told him about the "Off" taste. I asked him to inspect my food or try them to see what he thinks. He said are those Hot...I said "No", they are medium. He said, "I can't eat our sauce man...it tears my stomach up.".......... I also asked him about the very dark grease and my coworkers initial theory of that being why his fries were so bad and the smell was off. He said, " Na man, I change the grease myself...that's my job and I changed that side over there about a week or so ago." I pointed to the other side where our food had been cooked and he said he was changing that side soon.....but really, what is old grease ...grease is always grease." I then explained that while that may have been part of the issue, I honestly felt like it was possibly an issue with the chicken itself and explained the full extent of my bathroom hugging afternoon. He smiled and said I could come back tomorrow , but there was nothing he could do today. I explained how I wanted to mainly let someone know what happened due to the extent of how badly I had gotten sick after eating the wings. They do store their wings in the baskets that are propped above the grease. I do not know if that is a normal practice for other places, but both times I went into Jamal's, the baskets were full of wings sitting out above the grease. They would then pull the number of wings you want and drop them in the adjacent basket. On my first visit, I had assumed they were about to cook a large order. Going back hours later and seeing the same thing and I feel like that is probably the norm here. So, ......eat it at your own risk until they make some changes. I've never actually been to this establishment, nor had I heard of it until the very moment it was mentioned as a choice. I was hungry at 9pm on a Saturday. My boyfriend ordered me a meal from here since it was one of the few places that I could get food from that late in my area via UberEats. It isn't even near me but cool, the driver came a ways. It took a little over half an hour to be prepared and then it was picked up by the driver. The food had a really weird smell before I even took it out of the bag but it subsided when I actually opened the Styrofoam plate. Points for it being hot. The fries were great, not crispy which I like. They were well seasoned and 'tender'. That's an odd way to describe fries but that's how they ate. I'm use to bland, hard as rock fries from most places. The chicken however, was not so great. That's what prompted me to write this review. 10 lemon peppered wings. They were extremely too salty, terribly overcooked and dry as sandpaper. I couldn't really eat the last 4 of them. It was disappointing. I didn't even complain to my boyfriend because he'd call me an ungrateful brat. LOL. I should've opted for the pizza but we thought chicken was...

My overall rating would be like a 3.5 because the chicken was good but the combo does not include a drink and the fries are skimpy. The fries were good, there just wasn't enough of them. I opened my package and had to ask my son if he'd snuck and ate some of my fries. It looked like some were missing but be reported to me that his fries were "thin", too. Very disappointing because they were actually good. I was sick disappointed with the prices though. Overall it's a decent price but online they have typically different prices than what's charged in the site. That's kind of deceiving. It makes it even worse when you factor in the lack of fries and having no drink. I would love to return but if so it would only be because this is a black owned business. You can get the same thing with more fries and a drink for the same price, possibly cheaper. And the wait time was lengthy as well, maybe calling...
