1st time here and absolutely horrible experience from the start. I just got out of surgery and wanted something to eat so bad, so since we live 35 minutes away we decided to stop here. From the time we walked in we were uncomfortable. There was no hello, welcome too Auburn Inn or anything. Carla I'm guessing who is the bartender comes over and ask what we wanted to drink, she wasn't pleasant at the least. She comes back with our drinks and takes our order which was potato skins and a chicken quesidilla. I'm allergic to onion so naturally I asked for No green onion on my skins. Well sorry to say that there were a few green onion that made it's way into my potato skins. I unfortunately bit into one which made me automatically grabe a napkin and spit it out. My husband takes my plate to Carla and let her know that it's supposed to be no green onion. She instantly gets offensive and said there isn't. My husband then points out the pieces of onion, and to my surprise Carla replies "what those little pieces". My husband says, "Yes those...my wife is allergic". Her nasty reply "what you want it made over?". Nope sure dont. Nevermind and we'll take the check asap so we can get out of there. There was No apology for the mistake, not even friendliness. I've never thought I would feel so unwanted by a place until this one. It really makes me wonder if our skin color was the cause of Carla's rudeness towards us from the time we walked in. She definitely made sure we knew that we were not welcomed in there. Don't worry our black selves won't be back Carla. Hopefully no other of our complexion comes either. People think the only way to show racism is by calling a name. It's not. You can also tell by the way a person who don't like blacks acts towards you. You can tell by their entire vibe and Carla definitely made...
Read moreFood is never consistent, poor quality, and isn't served as described per the menu past dinner hours (missing items, small portions, ingredients not fresh). Lunch hours food is almost always good. Burgers are good and the chicken keeps me coming back. Ham and bean soup a few weeks ago was nice to see on the lunch menu. Service is friendly, sometimes lags, but overall a pleasant front house staff ( Tyler is my favorite so far). Beer is always cold with fair local prices.
To-Go orders aren't checked when they're boxed up, so check before you leave that your order is correct. This is my 3rd Togo house salad with chicken with no modifications. (Missing croutons. There is cheese somewhere. Portion is the size of a side salad. Lettuce looks like a garnish, the butt bitter ends, and isn't leafy. 5ish small tomatoes pieces, and 7ish small pepper cubes $11+) They have all been as disappointing as the next. Definitely not as described per menu.
I did get a burger last visit and asked for lettuce instead of a bun and they understood the assignment. Burger was savory, had all the cooked toppings, and the "bun" was "real"...
Read moreThere is something unique about bar food in general. There is your run of the mill bar food that is standard nothing special and then every once in a while you come across a place like the auburn inn. It is totally old school bar but the food is delicious. Tonight's visit wasn't our first trip but it was definitely our best. I have had a quesadilla at a Mexican joint that doesn't hold a candle to the quesadilla at the Auburn Inn. In addition their wings OMG what an amazingly delicious smoke flavor that is just crispy enough to tell its been in the frier. If you like smoked wings you MUST try these. Lastly, the special was a short rib sandwich, yall. This was the best short ribs I've ever eaten (if you look at my reviews I've eaten them at Gordon Ramsay's restaurant) and im sad it's just a special because we would go back time and time again for something this delicious. So honestly, if you find yourself in Chagrin Falls and you're looking for a place to eat, stop here. Their food...
