We sat at the bar with Am B as our bartender. My husband ordered an Arnold Palmer and I ordered a diet soda with light ice. When I got my soda, it tasted funny. When I mentioned this to the bartender, her reaction was “OK”. She never offered to get it from a different tap or check to see if maybe there was a problem with the syrup. I asked for ice water with extra ice. She served me light ice. There was another young girl bartending who was going around the bar checking in on customers. When she got to the gentlemen sitting next to us, they were having a private discussion about how she went to three different high schools and was a troublemaker while going to EL. We were the last two sitting at the end of the bar. She completely skipped over us and we had to flag her down for her attention. We each ordered taco salad and requested the side of guac for an extra $3. I also asked her for extra ice for my water which she provided. When we both got our taco salad and tasted the guacamole, both of us didn’t like it. It was evident the guacamole was not fresh. It did not have a fresh taste, no cilantro flavoring and tasted a little sour to us. When we asked for our bill, we requested to get the guac removed from the bill. I barely ate mine, but my husband had eaten half of his. The response we got from the young bartender was “this is our guacamole and there’s nothing wrong with it”. We explained we didn’t like it because it had a funny taste and she repeated “this is our guacamole. There’s nothing wrong with it”. This young bartender also confirmed it’s not fresh and they buy it from an outside source. She then went to Am B letting her know about our complaint. Am B came stating the same thing as the younger bartender. We explained it’s not fresh and her response was “we don’t advertise it as fresh”. Am agreed to remove one from the bill and my husband said “It’s not worth arguing over $3. Am stated “I’m not arguing”. When a customer isn’t happy about something, I feel the approach to the complaint should be forgiving such as “I’m so sorry about that”. Let me try the soda and see what might be wrong with it”. Please don’t ignore or be on the defense like these bartenders were. On a separate note, the guy next to us ordered a steak with mashed potatoes. When a steak is brought to you, the person serving the meal should ask the customer to cut into the sink to make sure it’s cooked to the liking. This man’s steak was rare, and he was complaining to the gentleman next to him how bad his steak was. We typically love Mac’s Grill and have ALWAYS received exceptional food and service when we go in the evening. This was our 1st time for lunch. It was a...
Read moreWe used to love this place. Yesterday, we decided to meet some friends for an early dinner at 4:30 on a Saturday. The lot was active, but not even close to full. We walked in and let the host know we had 4 in our party and our friends were behind us by a few minutes. We asked if there was a wait, and he snapped that there was, but after we pushed him for more information, it turned out there was only a wait for the bar, not for the dining room. He was the most unfriendly person and seemed to be high on his little bit of power (or maybe he was just high... Or maybe he should have been). He actually refused to seat us because they needed to turn over tables (the dining room was half empty) and he didn't want us "sitting there for an hour waiting for friends." We had JUST told him they were just a few minutes behind us and were baffled by his nonsense about sitting there for an hour. We finally got a table after making a production about calling our friends to see how far away they were (2 minutes) just to appease this power-tripping host. He crammed us in a corner, and when we asked about a table that wasn't stuffed into the walls, he flatly said no, it was for larger parties than our 4. That guy really set the negative mood. All the waitresses put trays of food next to our table because they have no room to serve at the tables, so we were constantly trapped by trays on a stand (what fire safety code?) and it really dampened the mood further. Our waitress was okay, she wasn't friendly and never seemed to be on our side of the restaurant. Everything took a really long time (shocking, considering how important turnover was to the dude at the door) and we waited more than a half hour just to pay the bill because she was scarce and just sat there chatting, wondering if the host was going to come by and force us out over it. There were plenty of bus boys... They checked tables every 30 seconds. The whole experience was so negative and they treat you like it's a fast food restaurant. Nah. We'll go somewhere else next time. It'll be years before we give Mac's another...
Read moreThe worst part at end! This establishment appears to have some very good food from what I could see. I wouldn't know as the bartender who has been with them for some time apparently has something against a patron wearing a Thin Blue Line hat. We ordered a drink and menu, before spotting hat she took care of our request, we were then obviously and purposely ignored as the people to our left and right sitting at same bar ordered, received food, asked for to go containers and got thier tabs. My girl is 100 times more patient and forgiving than I and she was absolutely steaming. We did not get a bit of attention until standing with coats on then asked if we wanted to order with a damn smirk on her face. I told the host as I left this was the worst ever experience in a restaurant, someone followed me out and asked what was wrong. We explained , they apologized BUT. I was told if I called manager would talk with me. So, I called and was hung up on. I called back same issue, we have a CT number. I redialed while driving 15 times until host answered and said manager will call you back. Well now weeks later no call back. A perfectly good restaurant and what appears to be great food completely ruined for bring political and anti-police rhetoric into a service business and for me the worst part is no follow up to smooth things over from...
