Sheila C's Burger Barn — Restaurant in Auburn

While my doggie had her chemo treatment yesterday in Auburn I had a long day ahead. As I was waiting I was started but I don't know much about Auburn Al. So I pulled up my Google and types in FOOD.. up pops Shelia C's Burger Barn!! Omgoodness!! I don't know what else to say. The reviews were through the roof as everyone raved about this burger joint off of Shug Jordan Pkwy. I pulled in and I was kinda skeptical as I didn't think they were open . But I pulled on the door and viola here I was. Inside smelling the most delicious smells of homemade burgers being cooked on a flat Iron grill and hot piping fríes! I was greeted by either the owner or her sibling with the biggest and friendliest smile!! The place was packed enough room for sitting but the working lunch crew was inside waiting or waiting on their huge burgers! I ordered the Cheeseburger Combo w/fríes and bev. The burger is huge and so doggone good!! Fresh hand patted burger and thick fríes with a generous helping of salt! And that sweet tea!! Sweet Baby Moses!! It was soo good!! They also serve milkhakes and rootbeer floats. I barely had room for my burger!! You can see it was cooked to perfection,, flavorful and juicy in each bite!! If you're a local or just passed through. Stop at this Black owned business and meet Miss Shelia and get you a burger to make thought mouth and tummy...

I wanted to eat here because this place has some great reviews , but my experience here was awful. The cashier had great customer service but the cooks we awful. Me and my boyfriend watched as they cooked our burgers along with everyone else , they had them sitting out for more than 15 minutes ( keeping track of the time) and they also were placing the UNCOOKED patties on top of the cooked ones and letting it sit also. So we asked for our food to be made fresh and that we did not want a burger that had the uncooked meat sitting on top . The old tall man (looked over age 60+)that was working in kitchen refused to give us a refund & refused to give us our food .I’m guessing he’s the manager because the cashier kept having to refer to him for answers. Situation went left really fast . HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. We were already the only black couple there . Not to mention it was another elderly white male who wasn’t even a worker trying to but in on the situation and be disrespectful and ignorant . Didn’t feel welcomed at all & definitely will not be stoping here ever...

Decent burgers but there's a few things that can be improved. We got two burgers and a chicken finger box for the kids (pictured) for about $30 bucks. Burger was delicious but the cheese was not melted, which I consider a bit odd if you specialize in burgers. Burgers are served in paper wrapper (no plates available) which made it a little hard to dip our fries in ketchup. Bathrooms were clean and decor was homey.

Update: We go back and figure let's try the drive through since we have the kids with us. Pull up and they tell us you have to call your order in. We are like dang we didn't know, can we go ahead and order and we'll just go park and drive back through in like 5-10 minutes. They were like no.. Go park and call your order in (as if to make the message sink in). Look I'm a pharmacist, so I know the feeling of not wanting that one person to clog up your drive through, but there's no excuse for being rude. CALL YOUR ORDER IN IF YOU WANT TO USE THE DRIVE THROUGH. There I'll spread the word.
