El Gallo — Restaurant in Augusta

Surprisingly filthy tables. Unjustifiably small portion sizes for the price. Poor service from a kid waitress that was most likely 15 years old. I generally thought it would be next to impossible to mess up nachos but I’ve now been proven wrong. $10 plate of “supreme nachos” I ordered had almost no cheese, stale chips, cold chicken and beef plus it was served with a hair in it. They messed up my buddies burrito order by including a few things he had asked them to leave out. A couple of us felt sick when we left but really what do you expect when go to a gas station Mexican restaurant? No doubt won’t be back and would never recommend to anyone. Edited review: I reviewed this place a couple of years ago when it was still good. Staff are nice, but the food is nowhere near as good as it used to be. Have went a few more times to eat, but it's still bad. Food is either bland or has a strange taste like it's rotten. Last time i had el gallo special i got a bad stomach ache afterwards. Will only eat here again if they start making...

The little Delta town of Augusta doesn't have many restaurants. Some I found listed are apparently long gone. El Gallo might escape your notice, too, because it's inside a service station but it's very much worth a visit if you're in the neighborhood. My fajitas were excellent. The service was outstanding. And the price was right, too. I'll keep El Gallo on my east...
