I have been to the Old Mill several times. Each time I enjoyed the food, service was excellent, and friends I took enjoyed the food and atmosphere.
Today, we drove from another town. I had a friend visiting from Georgia and raved about the Old Mill. I checked the website. Maybe I missed it, but I did not see anywhere where the dining area is closed Friday and Saturday evenings. You eat in the “Backyard.”
That would have been ok, but the menu is entirely different. Looks like stuff that can be microwaved.
We ordered nachos for an appetizer. It came, but we were never able to get plates to eat it off of. The ingredients, black beans, corn, chicken, cheese, etc, were bare minimal for the chips. I saw a tablespoon total of black beans, not much more of the corn, and the white cheese queso sauce was in extreme short supply. A pitiful example of nachos.
I ordered a sandwich requesting the sauce it came with on the side. When it arrived, it was on the sandwich. One of my party was drinking water. When she requested another glass of water, it never came. It was offered after we finished eating and were waiting for the check. Yet they were toting glasses of water to all the tables around us.
Your waitstaff was behind the bar, seen on their cellphone, at least one was. If I had known that was what was waiting, I would not have driven all the way from another town to take my friend. I could have gotten that in town here for less only better choices.
I will not make that mistake again, will go another day of the week when inside serving and inside menu is available.
I normally tip real well, last night, same ticket dollar amount netted our served a $20 cash tip. Tonight, I left $5, because we were seen to order drinks and appetizers, no plates for appetizers even though she said she would bring, ordered our food, then tried taking our food while we were still eating without asking first, did not bring the requested water, and 15 minute wait to get our check to leave. She did not check on us and FOLLOW UP WITH REQUESTS such as water. I would have taken another alcoholic beverage, but never had the opportunity to place that order and after seeing my friend not get her water, was not going to waste my...
Read moreWe were really looking forward to our meal at The Old Mill Restaurant. In addition to the reviews we read, our host also suggested them. Sadly, it was one of our most disappointing restaurant experiences weve had in recent memory. The bacon wrapped filet mignons we had were cooked perfectly and looks great but, aside from the bacon, were virtually flavorless! I told our server right away, but besides offering lame apologies, she was pretty worthless. She did tell us that they do not season their steaks and I could agree that a really good steak doesn't need a lot of seasoning. These were bland and had zero flavor. For a restaurant which touts their steaks, I don't get it. I've had MUCH better steaks at much better prices elsewhere. Not recommended.
Update: Response from the owner and our feedback: OMR: We are very sorry to hear of your disappointment. Per our video cameras we can hear and see that your server checked on you multiple times. First, that's kind of creepy. Second, I agree. Yes, she did check on us multiple times and, and we told her each time of our disappointment.
OMR: It is unfortunate that you waited until the steak was all gone to express your dislike. As I said in my review, I told her of our dislike after I took ONE BITE. Check your cameras. We ended up taking more than HALF of the steaks with us.
Sir, we use these reviews for a training peice but, our server did everything she could to help make things right after your meal was already gone A) The meal was NOT already gone and B) she did nothing but apologize. OMR: We work with our servers to teach them how to work with these types of situations, however, we will not condone the bullying. Bullying? I was polite, never raised my voice and we paid our bill in full. We even added a tip, albeit considerably less than we normally tip. OMR: We stand firm behind our server and quality cut of steak. That's fine. I commend you for that. I've honestly shared our experience. I stand...
Read moreI took my family to this establishment for my son’s 16 birthday on New Year’s Eve. We heard great things about their executive chef and wanted a nicer fine dining experience , something special. For the record his food was amazing and the chief did an amazing job. Highly recommend! Wait staff did a nice job for a really full restaurant.
Our only issue was they sat 4 people at a small pub table. The pub table was about maybe 2.5’ x2.5’. Clearly a table meant for 2 people not 4. Not sure if this is normal or not.
When the waitress came with the food she had to play Tetris as there was not enough room on the table for food and drinks. The plates hung off the table and it was super crowded. There were other tables in the restaurant like this. It was definitely not a finer dining experience as you felt like sardines. It felt like they just counted how many bodies they could fit in the restaurant and did not care about atmosphere or people’s experience. If I just wanted drinks and an appetizer maybe these tables would have worked. Definitely NOT for finer dining that this place advertised. If you are a party or 2 I would recommend. If your party has more I would not. Next time I would like finer dining and a treat with my family I’ll find another restaurant even though the food...
