Brunzeez Cafe — Restaurant in Ava

The food is great. But tonight, really changed my mind about this place. Unfortunately I felt disregarded by the server. I was told it would take 30 minutes for my food to be done. I get there after 35 minutes (I live in Steeleville). Well it wasn't ready yet. So I waited in my vehicle. After 20 minutes and watching several vehicles leave, my food wasn't ready yet. They asked me for my number while I placed my order, common decency would have been "hey I'm sorry, it's going to take longer!" But I still waited. After 25 minutes, a server came to my window, and said " are you so and so?" I said No, but I have waited this long, and I'm about to just leave. She then replied with a snarky attitude, "well that's up to you!" I was offered a loaf pan dessert, which was basically tossed to me by said server. She wouldn't let me speak, kept speaking over me. I'm usually pretty tolerant of anything that happens, especially when it's the people handling our food. I even tipped her as she was walking away so quickly. I understand that she may have had to deal with rude customers before, but she wouldn't let me speak. I think it's going to be a while before...

01/27/2024 Our waitress was an absolute delight. Very friendly, the service was fantastic. A great small town restaurant with a hometown feel. The hand breaded fried mushrooms are deliciously perfect and came with the house ranch for dipping. I will say they are the best fried mushrooms I have ever gotten from a restaurant. Pictured is a full order, I could not finish them all so brought some home for later. I decided on the 8oz hand pattied hamburger which came on a buttered and grilled bun. All of which was cooked to perfection. This place is a southern Illinois gem. I am a definite fan and look forward to trying their other menu items. Had heard a good reviews about this place so stopped for a late lunch as we were passing through. Overall, average. Bacon cheeseburger was huge cooked hot and fresh but no mention of any toppings so it was bacon hamburger on a bun. Potato wedges were hot. Beef and egg noodles was one of the specials for the day and it was not hot. Service was lackadaisical at best. Wasn't sure if they really wanted customers or if they would rather we go on our way... I will say we are not dessert eaters but the ones we saw there...
