Oak Grove Tavern — Restaurant in Avis

My friends and I ate at Dave and Ruby’s tonight. I have never experienced such bad service. I was told the platter I was buying which cost $30 would include a vast array of seafood. What I received left me hungry and was not at all what was described by the wait staff. After still being hungry my friend offered me a wing from his plate and the owner came over and told me I was not allowed to eat it. Then the waiter came over after and also informed me I was not allowed to have the wing from the buffet my friend ordered. Also will add that I am 17, the wait staff starred at our group the entire time like we didn’t belong there or were going to create an issue. I understand that the “wing in question” came from a buffet order but there was no reason for such disrespectful behavior towards my friends and myself. The entire experience at this restaurant was awful. Just because a group of young men go to a restaurant does not mean you have the right to mistreat them like you expect them to do...

Based on the numerous positive reviews, we decided to stop here for lunch. The deep-fried pepper rings were outstanding. My chicken quesadilla was somewhat of a letdown, as the chicken, although tender, seemed to lack seasoning. According to my husband, the Texas jumbo dog was very filling, but unfortunately, his fries had cooled off by the time they were served. The dining area is small, with tables in close proximity and only one server. The service was friendly, but due to the number of patrons, the food took longer than anticipated to arrive. Third time at Dave & Ruby’s and it definitely will not be the last! First time here, we had wings and a sub. WOW! I highly recommend the "hot honey" sauce! Our second visit was takeout, and was just as perfect as our first visit. This time, as recommended, we made reservations for steak night. I had the ribeye (fresh, local beef and cooked to perfection!), hubby had the grilled chicken salad (It was HUGE). Portions are large, well-prepared and so very delicious!
