First of all, check out Kevin the owner's reply to Derek's one star review, where he refuses to take responsibility for overworking his employees OR the unsanitary conditions that follow from these business practices. Now I am starting to understand why I had the experience I had! Profits over people :/
So! Their card reader wouldn't work for my phone and I had no cash or physical card. It wasn't working for another customer either but she had cash so she got her drink.
Four separate workers shrugged their shoulders about it as I walked out once and then again 3 hours later when I returned from my bike ride and the reader still wouldn't work. I wanted that iced coffee soooo bad ALL day and they just wouldn't go ahead and take responsibility for their card reader malfunction. Made me feel like a beggar being turned away in a time of need. I mean it's coffee, not life saving healthcare. First world problems, you know? But it was still humiliating.
I own a business myself and I can't imagine not giving a $5 purchase for free and simply asking the customer to pay me back later ESPECIALLY when there's a question about MY payment processing. I've done that many times for my customers and I'll do it many times in the future. As a business owner I know this costs me nothing but a good heart and a bit of trust. It's not like I had placed a $200 catering order that I couldn't pay for. It was a cup of coffee!!
On top of this rather shocking lack of generosity and trust, the lady cashier rather rudely pushed me aside to get to the next customer as I was trying to figure out how to pay.
I'll never be back but hey, the place was packed so good for Kevin. It seems like he may do well anyways without my goodwill or without respecting his employees or customers
Response to Kevin's response:
His place is on a new regular bike route for me. Had he apologized and offered a free coffee he would've received $5-15 a week for years. Now it's going to be zero and I guess he thinks this was a good business move.
Also, the lady cashier being rude was the least of my concerns. His way of conducting business is apparently what put her in that awkward position in the...
Read moreAbsolutely Disgusting!!!! Saw the guy making sandwiches and was sweating profusely and in the middle of adding things to each sandwich he wiped the sop off his face and neck with a tie die t-shirt and the shirt was already drenched and after each wipe using the same exact gloves would add a tomatoe or piece of ham and then wipe again. Poor kid where were the owners or management to check on this kid and 1st of all make sure he's OK and second of all to stop the extreme nastiness. Owner Replies and instead of taking responsibility for not checking on the employee to see if he is OK he attacks me. He clearly does not know how to read and this is how children behave. Instead of taking responsibility he attacks me unjustly. At what point of my review do I attack an employee. If the owner had an IQ over 60 he would comprehend what I wrote but instead is acting worse than my 2 year old. Matter of fact if I do not receive an apology and the owner keeps avoiding accountability and tries to lie once more saying I attacked his employee when in fact I was attacking the management for not checking to see if " the poor kid was OK". I will send video of this incident to...
Read moreI went here for the first time today and I wish I had known about it sooner! The coffee and food were excellent. I love that their syrups are house-made and that all of the bread is sourdough, which is such a rare and high quality touch.
The shop was very clean, with plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors. The parking lot had plenty of room, and the entrance was stroller friendly, which I really appreciated.
The staff was absolutely outstanding. Every single person I spoke with was beyond friendly, helpful, and kind. They truly made the experience feel special.
What stood out the most to me was the quality. I feel like it has become harder to find places that prioritize fresh, high quality ingredients, but Small State Provisions absolutely delivers on that.
And as a dog owner, I especially appreciate that they welcome dogs. It is rare to find a place that combines pet friendly policies with such excellent quality across the board.
I will definitely be back again and again....
