JOEYS Grill & Tap — Restaurant in Badin

For many many years, Cheers (and before that, The White House) was a place both residents and visitors of Badin Lake loved dearly. Cheers was truly the epitope of the tagline from the show “where everybody knows your name”. It says a lot about a business that is small but mighty. Somewhere that you feel welcomed and important as a customer. The restaurant, the staff, and the customers were the heart of Badin Lake and this was somewhere folks could go to watch a game, play music bingo, hear live music, aong karaoke, and gather with friends and family year round.

Unfortunately, over the past few weeks, this has all changed drastically. Cheers no longer offers any form of entertainment, no live music, no karaoke, no music bingo, no TVs. I think we can all agree that when you purchase a business that was already a fully operational entity, you may want to put your own personality and spin on things, but sadly that was taken too far. The least you can do is ask your “new” employees that have been at Cheers & the White House for YEARS, about what works and what doesn’t work well at the establishment….they know this place…well, they did.

I won’t be returning back to Cheers. I hate to see another great local spot crash and burn but when you turn on the staff and the community, this is the end result. They have lost my business. Really...

First, this restaurant is in the middle of a private gated lakeside trailer community. It's a very nice area. You just pull up to the gate, tell them you're going to Cheers and show them your drivers license. Second, the restaurant and staff are very nice. The view of the lake and boats on the pier is beautiful. Parking is a bit limited, but that's to be expected in a private community. They have parking for golf carts too. Also, they have a stage in the bar area for live bands. Finally, I wasn't impressed with the food. My shrimp was way over fried to the point of being chewy. My friend got a "patty melt". But it was really just a couple hamburger patties on dry Texas toast. Both dishes tasted okay. But they could have been so much better. I'm sure there are other things they offer that are much better. Maybe we just ordered outside...

Called before coming to make sure we could bring our dog. We were told that we could but we would have to sit outside. Not a big deal, we are used to that. Walked in and we were told the waitress wasn’t taking anymore outside orders (there were 2 tables of 4-5 people inside and nobody waiting to be seated) and we would need to place a to go order and take it outside. Okay, again, not an issue. She took our friends order and while he was signing his receipt, a lady walked up from the bar area with 7 other people and checked them out individually, while I continued to stand waiting to place my order, yes she saw me. About 10 minutes later, at 5:31, I placed my order. We got our food around 6:40 after going in about 4 different times to ask about it. The food was good and it was hot but I’m not certain we...
