What a gem! Everything we ordered was so delicious. My husband has been to Thailand before and he said this restaurant was one of the most authentic traditional Thai experiences he’s had in northern VA. Our waiter was super chill and attentive. Hubby had the bahama cocktail which is Mai tai and pina colada mixed together - so delicious. My Thai iced tea was really good too, creamy and flavorful. Appetizers: lychee dumplings (never had this before and absolutely loved it); Peking duck roll (delicious) and the sticky wings were amazing.. it comes with papaya salad and sticky rice, the chicken wings were big and fat, the sauce was so good. We were actually pretty satisfied from the appetizers; didn’t know it would be substantial portions like that. But alas, this was my husbands birthday dinner so we went all out! Our entrees were the Chiangmai pork (fried pork cutlets in a tasty sauce, very good); the supreme pad Thai (really authentic flavors, one of the best pad Thai we’ve had, the crispy whole soft shell crab was amazing) and the roast duck curry (spicy!!! But so so good.) Btw — portions were HUGE!! We would’ve ordered dessert too but we were stuffed at this point. We couldn’t even finish the entrees and took everything to go. We can’t wait to dig into our leftovers tomorrow. We’ll definitely come back with family and friends! Thank you for a wonderful dinner!

this restaurant has been here for ages. after going back for the first time in 10 years, i can confidently say i won't come back for another 10 years. the larb pla duk was good! the fish was crispy, sauce was good, and tasted very fresh. on the other hand, the khao soi was literally luke warm. the chicken was slightly under seasoned and the noodles did not soak up any sauce and felt like thin spaghetti. the beef pad kee mao was alright. i felt like it was missing wok hei flavor that i would normally get from other thai restaurants but it was the best dish out of the two entrees we got. the thai tea was good. good sugar, tea, and half&half ratio. service and staff were great but food was just alright. the atmosphere was warm and there were lots of tables inside with outdoor seating option

Not your average Thai place. The menu had more upscale dishes - not the old pad Thai and fried rice offerings. It was hard to choose. So many of the dishes sounded good. Next time we will try a duck dish. I went with the seafood won ton soup and Larb Gai salad. Hubby had basil beef and soup (forgot the name). His soup was seafood something hot & a little sweet. There was a LOT of seafood in that bowl of soup — mussel, squid, shrimp and scallop. Portions were large. We ate 1/2 and there was another 1/2 portion to take home. We dined in, on a Sunday at lunch time. It was not busy at all. All tables are set with linen table clothes and napkins. Service was good. We would eat here again.

Duangrat's Thai Restaurant beckons patrons with the promise of an authentic Thai culinary experience, offering a diverse menu that spans the vibrant spectrum of flavors intrinsic to Thai cuisine. My visits to this establishment, while generally positive in terms of taste, have revealed an area where improvement is imperative - cleanliness.

The culinary journey at Duangrat's Thai Restaurant is a celebration of Thai gastronomy, with dishes that capture the essence of traditional flavors. From fragrant curries to savory stir-fries, the menu presents a tantalizing array of options. The commitment to using authentic ingredients and culinary techniques is evident, allowing patrons to embark on a journey through the diverse and nuanced world of Thai food.

The ambiance of Duangrat's Thai Restaurant strives to evoke a sense of Thailand, with its subtle decor and warm color palette. However, the overall dining experience is marred by concerns about cleanliness. On several occasions, the cleanliness standards did not align with the expectations set by a restaurant that aims to provide an elevated dining experience. Tables, utensils, and certain areas of the dining space exhibited signs of use that detracted from the overall atmosphere.

Maintaining a consistently high level of cleanliness is vital in a restaurant setting, where patrons seek not only delectable flavors but also an environment that reflects the same commitment to excellence as the culinary offerings. The occasional lapses in this regard have the potential to overshadow the positive aspects of the dining experience.

It's crucial to note that the staff at Duangrat's Thai Restaurant generally exudes a friendly and welcoming demeanor, contributing positively to the overall customer experience. The service is attentive, and the staff members display a genuine enthusiasm for sharing the richness of Thai cuisine with patrons.

In conclusion, Duangrat's Thai Restaurant holds the promise of an authentic Thai culinary adventure, and its commitment to flavors is commendable. However, addressing cleanliness concerns is essential to fully realize its potential as a premier Thai dining destination. With focused attention on maintaining a pristine environment, Duangrat's Thai Restaurant has the opportunity to offer not only exceptional flavors but also an elevated and immersive dining experience...

Wonderful, as always. If there were a way to give 4.5 stars, I would. Various restaurants make a big splash from time to time, some are truly special, but for the most part they also come and go. Duangrat's has been, and remains, "constant like the sun."

It's welcoming and comforting, and always feels reassuring. The dining room, though periodically refreshed, has maintained its same basic look and atmosphere for as long as I can remember. A visit always feels like coming home.

The food is superb. Am I an expert on Thai cuisine? Certainly not. But we're blessed with an abundance of Thai restaurants in the DC area, and I've been lucky to dine in some top-flight Thai restaurants in London and the UAE, as well. Duangrat's never disappoints. The menu doesn't seem (to me) to be "dumbed down" to suit an American palate, and several dishes are available in classic "Thai hot." What really matters is that everything is authentic, carefully prepared, and delicious - - with the balance of various flavors for which Thai cuisine is famous.

Service is almost invariably charming - - relaxed and friendly but still competent. Everyone just seems genuinely nice.

Prices are very reasonable, especially by today's inflation-driven standards. They feel all the more reasonable as you're leaving, feeling happy, realizing that you've had a delicious meal in a nice setting, served by nice people, and have received far better value than you get at any number of other restaurants that have disappointed you lately.

Are there a few nits to pick? Sure, but they're minor. Swapping in larger tables probably isn't practical or financially sound, so perhaps smaller serving ware would help. Once our family of four had all four mains, plus glassware and condiments on the table, things got more than a little cramped. Perhaps it's done because American audiences expect it, but I'd be happy to see mains delivered not swimming in such a large pool of (indisputably delicious) sauce.

But, again, these are tiny issues set against a backdrop of delicious food, welcoming service, and terrific value. Duangrat's remains, steadfastly, a local gem. Make an effort to give it a try, or to visit again if you haven't...

They've been here as long as they have because they are consistently good as they are. A little dressy, I usually feel a little under-dressed for the atmosphere but no one has ever treated me as if that was the case--service is always quite nice. I've had a dish or two I wasn't 100% on board with. It was here that I experienced my first real lesson about how much one's ability to enjoy spicy foods can change with age: I got the hiccups, I wept, and I did ask for spicy so if you say you want it hot, they are prepared to meet that need in spades! If I were 20 again I could have rolled around in their spiciest Beef Nam Tok (my personal favorite from the menu), but sadly nowadays I have to take it rather mild. A loss, truly, because it was a spice that accentuated the flavor beautifully and didn't drown it out with the pain response. No numbing heat-for-the-sake-of-heat, rather heat as a top note on a complex flavor profile. Order it spicy, and give a thought to those of us for whom the spice is now off limits. 💔 As I said, not everything has been to my absolute delight, but the ratio of "glad-I-ordered-it" to "not-my-style" weighs heavily towards the glad. Also, the things that were "not my style" never wound up in this category from wilted greens or poor plating or carelessness/inconsistency with the recipe, it was simply as described: Not My Style. It was always quality, always well presented, and I'm certain absolutely perfect to someone else's palate.

I go there most times I come into town. Their beef nam tok makes me feel...
