It should be said- the food is good. Service, however, is… odd. Our first meal there (lunch), our server wanted to argue with us that the meal we ordered didn’t come with salad despite the menu explicitly stating that the meal came with salad. A manager got involved and continued the debate. It was time- consuming and awkward to have an extensive argument over a side salad that was specifically mentioned in the meal description in the menu (they finally conceded and brought the side salad: which was delightful). Tonight, it got weirder. It’s a Saturday night and multiple top 20 college football teams are in action. When we got there, of the three TVs in the restaurant, the largest and most central one was playing Fox News on mute. The second one (only visible to about 3 tables) had a CBS college football scoreboard show (no actual games, just scrolling scores). The third TV (over the bar) was off. Georgia and Ole Miss were playing (two top 10 teams) and we were sat at a table that directly faced the second TV (the scoreboard show). There were no patrons at any other table that could see that TV. We asked our server if the channel could be changed to the Georgia game. He said he’d have to ask his manager. He came back a few minutes later and told us she said that the TV could not (would not?) be changed. He gave no further explanation. The manager never came over at all. So we watched the Georgia game on a cell phone. Meanwhile, a man comes in and sits at the bar (where the TV was previously off). He requests to watch a different game, and that request is immediately accommodated by turning on the TV to the channel of his choice. To be clear- we do not believe we are entitled to change the channel on a public TV. But the facts around this particular request were such that it felt that our request (2 women) for a particular game (the biggest/most significant game playing at that time) was inexplicably denied. But a man’s request to watch a more obscure football game was immediately granted. Ironically, by the time we left, the same man had requested a change to the Georgia game, so we got to leave with a great view of another patron being allowed to watch the game we were refused. Finally, if there was a concern that tuning one peripheral TV to a Top 5 college football game would somehow offend other patrons, then I have to question the decision to dedicate the biggest and most centralized TV in the restaurant to a polarizing news show on Fox News. In short, the food is quite good. The atmosphere could be fun. But the service has a fussiness that feels at odds with the upscale lively environment they seem to want to create. Maybe the customer isn’t always right. But maybe the customer isn’t always...
Read moreFirst and foremost, I want to acknowledge that we truly need another quality dining option on the island, and when I heard about your Cozumel , my family and I were very excited to try it out. However, after much anticipation, our recent experience left us a bit disappointed.
During our visit the other night, I noticed a few familiar faces from Jailhouse, which was interesting. Regarding the food, my husband ordered the ceviche, which unfortunately was quite bland and had an off taste that suggested it might have been close to spoiling. The margaritas we ordered tasted overly diluted, much like watered-down lemonade, with only the faintest hint of tequila. My carne asada was acceptable, though nothing remarkable.
More concerning, however, was the service. It was exceedingly slow, especially considering we had children who became restless waiting for their meals. Thankfully, they were able to enjoy some snacks early on, but the wait for their food was still longer than ideal.
While our first impression wasn’t as positive as we had hoped, we plan to give the restaurant another chance later this year, and I will be sure to update my review accordingly.
Wishing you the best of luck...
Read moreThis was an incredibly disappointing experience.
We waited 15+ minutes for anyone to come by our table and finally asked the host - only to overhear her beg two other servers to pick us up because our actual server: "she said no." The table next to ours had been waiting for the check for so long, the guy just got up and gave cash to the bartender so they could leave.
The vibes were very chaotic and everyone was in a mood. It was our first time here and we attempted to rally with drinks.
The margaritas were essentially water. I can't fathom there was alcohol or mixer in them. Water with lime would have more flavor and staff was defensive and dismissive when asked about it. Regardless, it's a $24 margarita so there's no excuse for it not to be fantastic.
The food was fine, but not remotely worth the price and it was a bummer of an evening. We got guacamole (solid), mahi tacos, birria tacos and enchiladas. Guacamole was best flavor and value.
The aesthetic of this place, especially the bar, is beautiful and we really wanted this to be a win, but there's a lot of options on the island -...
