A Feast for the Senses!!!!
I walked into this local gem, for the first time ever. I was craving a hearty, authentic Mexican meal, and their wet burrito with beef chile rojo delivered on all fronts. Stepping inside felt like stepping into a warm embrace – the kind you get at a true mom-and-pop establishment. The friendly staff greeted me like family, making the whole experience even more inviting. Picture this: a massive flour tortilla, its warm embrace barely containing the explosion of flavors within. The star, undoubtedly, was the chile rojo. Tender chunks of beef practically melted in my mouth, infused with the deep, smoky essence of guajillo and ancho chiles. Every bite held a delightful balance of richness and warmth. Let’s not neglect the heat. I took the spoon and thought of it as a paintbrush: dabbing, and painting lines on the burrito with the chile de árbol sauce, adding a thrilling layer of spice that danced on the tongue without overwhelming. The rice and beans were expertly executed sidekicks; the Mexican rice fluffy and subtly seasoned, the refried beans creamy and the perfect canvas for a sprinkle of quesito! This is no dainty burrito - it's a feast! Casa Jiménez has nailed it. Thank you! Y...
Read moreVery pleasant ambience. Great service. Have been bringing my “kids” for their awesome “Chocomil”.. I ordered Carne asada Tampiqueńa plate and was so disappointed that they don’t serve it here with an enchilada which in a Tampiqueńa the enchilada is always included. But when I dug in the carne asada I was so pleasantly surprised at the delicious flavor and mostly great quality of this steak. Perfectly done and seasoned. I totally and immediately forgot about the enchilada. I was so enthralled with that dish, I woke up wanting it again. Went to a La Poblana restaurant closer to home and ordered same Tampiqueńa plate. When it came it had great presentation and with the mandatory enchilada. But oh disappointment when I cut into the asada cut: super tough and hard to chew. Obviously a much lesser and cheaper or beef grade and way more expensive plate. Will continue coming here to...
Read moreWe walked into a cold restaurant with the strong scent of pine-sol and waited 10 minutes for a table (because they didn't know who was seating us; meanwhile two other parties were sat at tables large enough for our party of 4). Then, when we got to our table, we realized why it was so cold: they leave the back door wide open. We ordered water and other drinks, but never got the water. We also had no silverware for a long time. The margaritas seemed to have no trace of alcohol. We then waited about 35 minutes for food, and when it came, one order was wrong and every order was cold. The reason this is getting two stars instead of 1 is because the chile Colorado sauce and meat would have been good if not cold. Worst Mexican food experience I've ever had on...
