Simmer Down — Restaurant in Baldwyn

Me, my wife & daughter stopped in tonight to have dinner. We were seated promptly and the waitress was very nice taking our order. She brought our salad bowls and I immediately got up and got my salad and came back to the table as my wife and daughter got up to go get there’s. I had no more got my fork out to eat my salad when a girl brought out our food. Me and my wife had ordered the steak for two and my daughter a kids steak. I’m all for fast service but dang we hadn’t even got to start on our salads. We just let our steaks sit while we ate our salads. When we finally got to the steaks my daughter’s kid steak was cooked perfectly med rare. But the steak for two was completely rare. Like not even remotely close to med rare. I flagged our waitress down and she immediately noticed it too without me saying anything. She took it back to be cooked more while we ate our sides. I HATE sending things back because I’m afraid I’m going to make someone mad. We had mostly finished our sides when we brought it back. Upon returning it looked like the steak had been drenched in some brown liquid that wasn’t there the first time. Not sure what that was but it did not smell good. The steak was at least cooked right now but my gosh did it taste awful! We couldn’t even eat it. We both tried to scarf down a few bites but it was so salty we couldn’t take it. The steak had a smell to it that as weird as this sounds smelled like a “barnyard”. It turned my wife’s stomach. We got a to-go box to take it back to our dog. The waitress was nice and nothing wrong with her but the steak was not pleasant in the slightest. I wanted to say something at the cash register but I was afraid they would think I was just trying to get my food discounted or something. It was not a good dining...

We usually go about 2-3 times a month. They absolutely have the best salad bar in North MS. We start off with their HOMEADE cheese sticks. These things are massive. They aren't your frozen cheese sticks you get at most restaurants. They are amazing. Then we usually get the steak for two. Being honest with you, they have always had the best flavored, most tender steak for two. It's always been a thick cut of meat cooked to our liking and seasoned really well so you get a good tasting steak. When our waitress asks me if I need steak sauce, I always tell her, "I hope not". This last time we went, the salad bar was still wonderful, the cheese sticks were awesome, but the steak was just middle of the road. I did end up having to put steak sauce on it and it was a lot thinner piece of steak than normal. Maybe this is just the new trend, but I hope not. Bidenomics had ruined everything else. Please don't let it ruin Simmer Down! Also let me say that the staff is second to none. Always on top of everything you need. I don't know her name, but there's a black lady there and she has the most vibrant personality! We try to sit in her section...

My husband and I went to Simmer Down for our first time tonight. When we got there the parking lot was full. We both expected to have to wait a while before getting a table, however to our surprise our wait was only 5 mins. The building is really nice with a warm cozy atmosphere. We were seated, and immediately greeted by our waitress Ashley, she was incredibly polite and friendly. We ordered sweet tea to drink. The tea was fabulous. We skipped an appetizer and went straight to ordering the steak for two dinner. Hush puppies were brought to the table as a complimentary treat. Our Steak dinner came with 4 sides. We both got the salad bar, and loaded baked potato. The meal all comes with a dinner roll or Texas toast. (We got the toast. The salad bar was great, everything was fresh and there were lots of different things to choose from. Our steak was cooked perfectly! Juicy, tender and seasoned wonderfully. We will definitely be back. Our dinner was only $42 (that’s before tax) and of course the tip we left. 10/10 definitely...
