If you are driving in or out of Bandera on the 16, watch for this place on the North side of the street. Look for a little place close to the road with a large handmade sign that simply says "FOOD" .. to the left of that is the official sign "Tiny Schnitzel Haus". This is a little place built partially using an old Streamline Trailer. There are a few other businesses in the small complex behind them but I cannot recall any of the names right now, sorry. My husband and I have had food from them twice and both times were great. The seasoning on the schnitzel is awsome. Both times we had sandwiches .. once as wraps and once on the sourdough hoagie rolls .. we have tried both the pork and the chicken (many more to try as well) The aioli sauce is super yummy - I plan to ask for an extra serving next time. If you like sauerkraut I can also suggest you try the kraut balls with bier cheese. They are deep fried balls of sauerkraut mixed with (I think) mashed potatoes. They are served with bier cheese for dipping. I really enjoy sour things and I could have made a meal from these alone. Also the food is served on actual plates with actual silverware .. no plastic. I cannot wait to go back and try something else. Please give it a try. They are working on a liquor license but meanwhile you can take your own beer,...
Read moreGot the sausage trio with curry sausage, bratwurst, & countrywurst. (Not worth $19.00) Curry was sliced sausage that was drowned in what tasted like a vinegar based bbq sauce. The two brats were good. Sauerkraut was extremely salty! & for dessert we got 2 apple strudel. It was a very thin dough 2”X4”X1” around small diced apple chunks. No filling, no walnuts, if you try to pick it up by hand all the apple chunks just fall out. There was a tiny amount of powdered sugar & a seperate dusting of cinnamon on top that overwhelmed all the other flavors. No whipped cream like in the other review photos. (Not worth $4.50 each)
Wife got chicken schnitzel sandwich. Chicken was dry & breading had no seasoning/flavor. She said only flavor was provided by tomato, lettuce & aioli. Cucumber salad was good.
Order taker & delivering staff were very polite & welcoming.
Eating German in the Texas Hill Country ought to be fairly easy. The Tiny Schnitzel Haus was a great disappointment!
I should have taken more photos before I ate the food & threw away what I could not stand to eat. Spending $50 on 2 meals in this day a person can’t afford to trash the...
Read moreStopped by on 10/06/23 for lunch not knowing what to expect. Saw a older Airstream trailer and a nice wooden porch. Looked up saw the menu and thought I was back in Germany. Schnitzel, brats, sausage, German potato salad, cucumber salad and more. Ordered the schnitzel sandwich with a German brat and my wife ordered the brat plate with the potato salad. The very nice couple that worked there were very friendly. Our food came out on a “real” plate and actual silverware not the plastic stuff. The sandwich was delicious with a well made schnitzel on a great roll. The German brat had a great casing with a delicious sausage. The potato salad was as I remember in Germany. The couple working there and took the time to talk to us, asked us about the food and gave us ideas for desert. We had both the strudel and the Black Forest cake. It was like we were eating deserts in the cafes of Germany. If you are driving on Highway 16 between Bandera and Pipe Creek, look for the silver Airstream and stop in for some delicious German foods from entree to deserts. All items made by the family and the bearded chef is from Germany....
