The Front Porch Café in Ellsworth is an absolute gem. It’s a pay-what-you-can nonprofit, but don’t let that fool you—this place delivers food and service better than most sit-down restaurants we’ve ever been to. The prices were incredible, the portions were generous, and everything came out fresh and done right.
The staff was attentive, kind, and genuinely seemed to care about every guest. On top of that, even the other patrons were welcoming—someone noticed my jacket and came right over to chat like we were old friends. That says a lot about the kind of community this café builds.

The strawberry-rhubarb was very good but slightly over sweetened for my taste and without a strong underlying flavor to make it go. They have all the standards and daily specials that are really a “cut above” the standard fair. Nice deserts especially the home cooked pies usually 3 or 4 variety. Prices are very reasonable.
