JJ Goodwins Restaurant & Sports Pub — Restaurant in Barnstead

The downstairs pub was very clean and inviting and had lots of seating available. Brand new pool tables and decor lined the walls and the atmosphere was upbeat and lively. Our waitress, Joyce, was super accommodating and friendly and brought our food and drinks to us quickly. The burgers were cooked perfectly and the beer was nice and cold. The manager, Leah, kept the staff engaged and circulating throughout the bar and the prices were very reasonable. Plenty of parking, too. Looking forward to when the upstairs dining room will be open (hopefully by Spring, 2025).

I was hesitant to go despite all the cars I kept seeing in the parking lot. I figured they were only there because we don't have much in town. I was pleasantly surprised and would give it a 5 overall because the staff have been very friendly and helpful!! We have only had the sandwiches so far but they have been very good. The fried haddock looks good as does the steak and cheese which someone had who was sitting beside me, he was very happy with it. The portions are also very generous. Big upside is it is only 5 minutes from our house! If you go it is mostly bar food for now but we have heard they have plans to expand....

Checked this place out tonight. Lauren our server was amazing! Food was great, loved the batter on the fish & chips. Atmosphere was good but very loud if you are looking for a family dinner type atmosphere 8pm on a Saturday may not be for you. We just wanted a drink and some food so it didn’t matter to us, but a family with kids it may be a little loud with the 20 somethings playing pool. The only “turn off” would be the gentleman who went behind the bar, poured himself a beer, chugged it down then left. Not sure pounding a beer behind the bar is a good look but that’s just my personal opinion. Overall nice addition...
