I’m a resident of Barranquitas. I saw this business form from the ground up, watched it grow, when it burned down, and come back with a modern, innovative concept that was much needed for our town. I’ve always supported local businesses, but what happened today fully justifies taking the time to write this review.
This isn’t the first bad experience I’ve had at Kamilas but it will be the last. I’ve been here on holidays, on slow days, on average mornings… and while service used to be decent thanks to overworked staff doing their best, the lack of personnel has become a chronic issue. Two people running the entire restaurant, bakery, and coffee station? That’s not efficiency it’s mismanagement.
The truth is, Kamilas has lost its charm. It once offered a cozy, organized, functional atmosphere. Now, the business “keeps making money”, but the owners clearly don’t care; not about the space, not about service, and not about food quality.
Today we waited anywhere from 10 to 25 minutes just to be acknowledged. The waitress, though kind, was visibly overwhelmed. It took nearly an hour to get basic food: eggs, bread, and potatoes. Meanwhile, people who arrived long after us were served at the same time or even earlier, and their coffees came out faster than ours.

Read moreThe place looks great and as you walk in I was ready for a great breakfast. We had called ahead and made reservations, we got there and they did not have a table ready and had to wait. Once we sat down we ordered 3 mimosas and ordered our food. Four other tables sat down and ordered after us and got there food before we did. My daughter's boyfriend had to ask the waitress for the food so our granddaughter could eat. By this time we had been seated for almost an hour. The service was poor once the food arrived the plates were warm but the food was not. The eggs Benedict the yoke was cooked hard, the taco pancakes came with cheese we ordered no cheese, the Turkey sandwich was also send back because it had pesto sauce and we asked for only lettuce and tomatoes. My omelet was cold and had no bacon or sausage only the plantains. The eggs were almost burned and cold. I was totally disappointed, for $85.00 plus tip this was terrible. The place has potential but they have...
