J&J FAMILY RESTAURANT LLC — Restaurant in Barre

Tried this restaurant after hearing lots of positive reviews. Honestly, I feel that it's not nearly as great as others boasted about. Food was alright, but I've definitely had better. Same with the service & atmosphere. Overall just very "so so". Average small town place. Nothing really special or unique about it. Might go again, but in no rush. Locals made it sound excellent, I wasn't all that impressed...a fair 3 stars. My partner's order wasn't accurate either. He asked for French fries, but was given rice. Didn't bother complaining, as it was our first time so we didn't want to cause a big fuss. Grilled cheese was decent. Took awhile before our waitress came over, despite it not being at all busy at the time we went. Update: Went for breakfast, similar experience as before. Food was below average, as was service. Prices are good, but unfortunately you get what you pay for. My hash brown was extremely salty, omelette was dry & had tiny hard pieces of overcooked diced ham that I could barely chew, toast was a bit dark. Another person dining with us complained of how rubbery & tough his pancakes were, instead of being fluffy. From now on, we'll stick to Quabbin Woods for breakfast. Longer drive, but always well worth it! Overall on a 1-10 scale, I'd probably rate this restaurant a 4/5. Waitress was friendly, but inattentive & more concerned with counter seat customers. Called at 12:40pm to place an order for pickup. Asked if they served breakfast all day, the person who answered the phone said "Yes but we close at 2pm today" I respond "oh ok, so can I place an order for pickup right now?" They then responded "well idk we are pretty packed right now" I then again askes "so can I place an order for pickup?" The response I got was "Idk we are pretty packed right now and close at 2pm , it wouldn't be done until 2pm" . I responded "so if I place an order right now at 1240pm it wouldn't be done until 2pm?" Which I got in response "Yeah idk we're pretty packed sorry"

First time there last night with 3 other people and we all had a great meal at a great price. Yes it's not your diamond studded restaurant but it sure is cheap and good . I had the fisherman's platter with whole bellies clams it was delicious and 25 bucks.wife had pan seared scallops and they were great too she said and other guests had fish and chips and chicken broccoli ziti all great...o and I had clam chowder which was 3.99 for a bowl little thinner then I like and needs a little.more cream.for flavor but still good and only 4 bucks..
