Two weeks ago my wife and I went to Stone Cow with a couple of old friends to have some drinks and food. It was the first time I have been to stone cow and the ambience was fantastic. Wasn’t very busy and the place was really chill. We really enjoyed the food and the beer. We couldn’t wait to come back and really thought this would be our go to place.

Last night we went and asked two other couples who haven’t been to stone cow before to join us. I would have to say I was shocked, and felt like this place was very different than what I had experienced before. The first thing that went wrong was the two beer tenders attitudes towards the customers. They were very rude to our guests and accusing them of not paying for their beer after my wife already paid. The main problem is there is no organization between the beer tenders and they’re just all over the place not knowing what each other doing. The next problem was even worse. The fact that the place was busy wasn’t an issue, but they had a band that had their amps on 11 within the barn. This was an inside venue and it was so loud everyone sitting near the band had to move away, and I couldn’t even hear anybody in my party, it was the most uncomfortable thing I’ve ever experienced and I go to ALOT of concerts. I asked one of the beer tenders if this happens all the time and they said no we usually get this band and they play outside, this is the first time they ever played inside. Where is the manager? Didn’t they realize that this was so incredibly loud?

After the band left, we ate food, which was good and had ice cream which was great. It is April and I am sure this place is going to be busy as the weather gets warmer. Although I will not be coming back to this place, I hope they get their act together or others will feel the same way as I and the other couples I...

Although on the surface this establishment may come across as a family friendly and warming environment, it is IN FACT NOT. My wife worked for several years for this company, and was fired for a simple social media post that they were merely offended by. The post was NOT directed towards the family or the farm, however she was dismissed from her position at the brewery due to the family being over sensitive and offended by my wife’s opinions which, again, had no aim at the family, farm or business. They present themselves as the family in Barre, MA that is well respected and honorable. However they have had several issues with town offices and politics within the town to suggest otherwise. Below the surface they are not good people.

My review is not out of being offended that my wife was let go from her job. It is to expose this business and family for who they are. A simple conversation with my wife about her views and opinions would have explained a lot, but they chose to act on emotion instead of logic and facts. Go grab a beer and enjoy yourself at the farm, but know your hard earned dollars are supporting the fake facade that they present themselves as. Do yourself a favor and ride over to any of the other local breweries in the area and support well respected businesses...

If you happen to be in the Barre area, this is definitely a place worth checking out! My fiance & I recently visited with our two little ones, ages 6 & 4. We actually don't drink alcohol, but it didn't matter, we still had a great time! They have excellent food, mainly BBQ cuisine, prices are a little high, but I will say they're well worth it, because the food is served hot, fresh & flavorful! Most meals come with 2 sides, your choice of cornbread, mac & cheese, cole slaw, just to name a few. We tried the smoked chicken which was delicious & enough for us to share. Got the hand cut french fries & homemade baked beans with it. Decent sized portions. They also have an ice cream window, with many flavors. They have cold non alcoholic beverages available as well, such as regular or chocolate milk, soda, juice. Pumpkins, playground area for kids, picnic tables, animals to see including a big pig with piglets, emu's, etc. Plenty of parking & port-a-potty's. They have a neat feature where you can give your cell # so that they can text you when your order is ready, incase you want to wander while waiting. Friendly staff. Inviting atmosphere. Great music selection. Used to be called Carter & Stevens...
